How long do you spend time producing music?

I'm really wondering, I used to spend whole days in front of the computer, hours in a row making music. From morning to deep in the night. I still do but I recently found myself taking a lot of breaks, I mean, really a LOT! I don't even know why. It seems like I get exhausted very quickly, just by sitting and... making music. Weird...

I'm missing this time where I could make a complete track in say 3 hours, now it takes me ages. Sure they're more 'complex' than what I did, say, two years ago, but it still all feels very slow. And I really want to finish things fast and move on! It's those damn breaks I do all the time... WHY?

I'm very much the same way when it comes to producing music. It's actually becoming a roadblock in terms of creativity. I take lots of breaks in between work because I just can't get into that groove. Then when I return, I hate how it sounds. It's really becoming a problem that I'd like to sort out ASAP!

I think some of it has to do with all the additional equipment and software that I've purchased. When I first started playing around with beats, I didn't care about all the technical aspects of doing it. I just had melodies in my head and just threw them down onto the computer without even thinking about it. I kept adding and adding for hours and hours not even realizing the time going by. All of this with a mouse and keyboard. Now that I have a lot more at my disposal in terms of hardware and software and most importantly, knowledge, I almost feel I have to create something amazing in order to justify all the things I've bought and learned. And when I can't, I get upset and discouraged.

Damn, I think I've had a moment of clarity typing all of that out!

I went thru this too, for about two years when i was really struggling in school trying to understand music theory and proper notation and more importantly Compression EQ Head room all that good stuff. Months on a beat turned to weeks then 7-8 days now from start to finish. I would suggest studying how every you go about doing it to learn about mixing and mastering your beat, the more you know the easier it comes to you with time. With that said, another thing i suggest is having 4-5 projects at a time, even if you keep one on the back burner for months, just to switch things up alittle and slowly build them up so it doesnt feel like a rush to get it done, it works for me and not to AD myself but check my youtube channel from the beat below i have a Tutorial Series that could really help you! hope i helped!

When i was learning to make beats id have days where id sit in front of the computer EVERY DAY for HOURS lol. Now that im at a level where i can create without having to learn so much, maybe a few hours a day?

It's like meditation for me, I just sink into the beat and do it for hours. For some reason I never even bothered to time myself and see how long an entire production would take... Usually somewhere around half a day though, six hours at least.

I used to be able to make beats for hours on end, now I get distracted.. My mind span has gotten real energetic so it's hard to focus on one thing for as much as I used to, unless I'm working on what I think is a great beat.. As far as beats, I work fast, so it can take me anywhere from 30 mins-2 hours to complete a track.

I use to spend 2-3 hours everyday making beats. These days, I spend 2-3 hours a week. Life's getting busy lol.

Before as a starter, I usually spend 8-12 hours per day exploring , watching tutorials and experimenting. Currently I spend 3 hours per day on average. With Some dope. LOL
