Good list, include Sampletank and Dimension Pro if you need more organic sounds.

    Vague.

Good VSTs for what? Sounds? Effects? Compression? EQ? What?

    Start free.

I use Stilwell Audio plugins more and more to mix my music.
If you need sounds.. Sampletank Free is fantastic to get you started off.

Also.. find as many soundfonts as you can.

Hmm i should check out Dimension Pro myself...Anyway if your looking for the best vst for synths it would have to be Sylenth hands down. You can find a bunch of soundbanks for it online and the sounds it comes packed with has everything i think youll be looking for in the way of synths
