Hi guys,

i'm buying the HS80m of yamaha, but i also need a decent soundcard, i've found this one, i think its good?

Scarlett 2i2 from Focusrite

Do you have any other recommendations then this for about the same price..??

Please let me know!

thanks!

Focusrite makes good products in my opinion. Everything in that price range will be basically the same. Go for it!

OK thank you!

Anyone got something else to say?

nobody can help me ???

the one you picked it fine
but what are your needs??
do you need preamps included??
do you need MIDI included in your audio interface??
have many inputs/outputs do you need????
do you want to go firewire or USB??
do you need super clean a/d and d/a converters??

nobody can really help you without more info
not trying to be a jerk but if you tell us what you NEED and maybe want as well
we can give you more opinions
but at the $200 range you get what you pay for ...low-level to mid-range gear
doesn't mean you can make or playback music with decent quality
shoot I still use this since 2002 or 2003 can't remember
blue boi is my stuff

Thanks, i didn't really said what i need, but basically all i need is:

- input for my yamaha speakers,
- input for a midi input for a keyboard
- input for my headphones,

and that is it i guess? :D and if possible something to put a microphone in (but for in a few years maybe, i don't have one right now), but i guess that is also midi input or not? :D

but i think i'm going for these, unless someone got a better alternative? :p

go with your original selection then just make sure to go with USB version if you don't have a firewire card and you'll be fine

I have the Scarlett 2i2. I have a Saffire LE which served me well for years, but I didn't like how it immediately heated up my Macbook Pro and made my laptop fans go wild when I'd be recording (it's a Firewire thing) so I switched to a USB one. This doesn't have MIDI input, but it's okay for me since I use MIDI controllers through USB anyway. Other than that it's a fine external soundcard.

Thanks guys, but you say it doesn't have MIDI :D then i don't think i understand what it does? I thought it were the 2 inputs at the front of it and that you have to have it so you can press on a piano and play for example a note in sylenth1. Or is this possible without the midi thing? >.< :D

Great response fataltone! As always.

BTW I love the sig!!! :)

thanks that's what I'm here to do and thanks for the love on the sig.
what audio interface do you use by the way..I'm sticking with the Tascam US-428 that I post the pic above till I grab this up in feb. 2014 or 2013 if business goes well

It's an audio interface, not MIDI (although in all fairness a lot of interfaces have both). You record external sources with it & output your computer's audio to your monitors.

Practically all modern MIDI controllers work via USB, so the traditional MIDI port isn't as often needed.

The 2 inputs at the front is an XLR/1'4" input for audio sources (i.e. microphone, guitar, etc.). You don't need an external soundcard to do what you're saying above (hit a note on the keyboard and it plays in Sylenth1) since most MIDI controllers are USB based these days.
