I'm using Cubase 5. When attempting to import an audio cd I get 'could not load 'eacdll.dll" CD could not be read' error. Again, Cubase mixer takes long to load. Someone has suggested that I uninstall and reinstall Cubase 5. My question is, if I do that wont I lose songs already recorded.

Don't use Cubase, but if you shouldn't lose anything. I'd back up my project files ta be safe, but your VST/AU/RTAS & samples should remain where they're at. Unless they came with Cubase, then they'll be uninstalled, then back on when you reinstall. Lol

Nothing gets lost, you may find between the un-install and re-install that your songs cannot be recognised by your browser, but that is to be expected as all file types associated with Cubase would be removed from the file type registry.

as kebeats wrote, your only major concern is to make sure that you do not accidentally remove your 3rd party vsts in the process. Always a good idea to have a backup so that you do not get caught out on that.

It is important to realise, that you can stillre-install all of your 3rd party vsts after a clean install anyway.

When you first run Cubase after a reinstall, it will look for any and all vsts in the common files folder under windows, updating it's local database of available vsts.

I did your googling for you:

"Apparently the "eacdll.dll" file that was missing, Showed up under "Program files, Steinberg, VSTplugins". I copied it to the main Steinberg Directory and it works now!!!"
