Can you use samples with words?

Hey guys! I'm just starting out and I was trying to learn to sample. So I was wondering, can you actually use samples that have words in them, or do you have to stick to loops that only have instruments?

Sorry if my question doesn't make any sense!
Thanks in advance!

Yes and no. Yes as in physically possible to sample whatever you want and no because of this link:
Copyright - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

License stuff is usually involved in all that. Anything not in fair use/creativecommons/royalty free is fair game for lawsuits.
Everyone who partakes in sampling regardless of intent excluding fair use/review can be considered fair game too.

fair use is only for:
critical review
educational examples/assessment
satire (even then the courts are still likely to find against you)

I think you're asking if you can sample words as in...is it possible?

Absolutely.

^^^You can go the approach of using subtle vocals and vocal harmonizations that can be rapped over the top of and sound like background singers...

Or add in your face vocals that the rapper has to incorporate into his rhymes.

As long as your not selling you music its pretty much fine to do whatever you want

not true

see the above statements from konkosskang and myself

the flip this section at fp is an example of the fair use doctrine as it is being used to learn how to become a better sampler/flipper; i.e. it is about education primarily
