anyone got good info on purchasing domains? or am i gonna have to go research that alone too lol
I've purchased mine from godaddy.com ... keep in mind that I'm just forwarding them to my Soundclick page(s), so there might be better ones out there.

Honestly I've made all but one of my sales from MySpace.com ... My "manager" has a domain (www.duibeats.com) but he's really not doing **** for me.. Network through myspace.. bulletins.. add a lot of people.. Everytime I get a new track, I upload it to soundclick, and post the soundclick widget in a bulletin on myspace.. I've leased my last three songs multiple times within a few days doing that..

Download FriendBlasterPro and add as many people as you can.. You get enough people to look at your music and someones gonna like/want it.

It doesn't matter what venue you use on the net to sell your beats. If your page gets no traffic then you get no exposure period which = no funds. Learn basic Internet marketing first then try to post on the net. You can be the best producer never heard of you feel me. Promote Promote promote. Thats the key. Just my thoughts

Bang on Ayo. More traffic equals more money. Easiest way to get traffic IMO is the soundclick charts. Hell, I quit my day job on Aug1 and haven't looked back, Soundclick keeps me eating good.

ok, so the bottom line of this thread is 'Promotion'... through Soundclick and ur own .com

Did i get that right?

Our young Pad one is learning, I think he's ready for the next step. You guessed it man you gotta do what others are not doing and thats pretty much getting exsposure for themselves.

Your own .com domain name will only cost around 10 bucks a year but website hosting will cost around 120 bucks a year. Advertising via Google Adwords is going to cost whatever you're willing to spend. Traffic is money.

Seems like alot of people start out on Soundclick.

True traffic does cost money thats no lie, but think about the thousands if not millions of of users on soundclick who have beats pages but no traffic. Why do they have no traffic? Its simple because they don't take the time to create it for themselves. Traffic is the lifeline to any online business. So with it being that valueable, of course its not going to be free. Although there are some methods of obtaining free traffic, paid traffic tends to be more effective. Once you enter the digital age you have think like a marketer my fellow FP's. Its more than just having a hot track now, thats just the product. Now you have to get that product to the world and the only way thats going to come into light is through good old online promotions. Peace

I just purchased a domain a few minutes ago from go daddy.com
I'm completely new to this but I go that far. I'm looking at them for possible web hosting once I figure out the pros and cons of web hosting

WhiteHotPro, I see you on the soundclick charts all the time. How do you get so many song plays? How do you get so much traffic coming into your soundclick?

Apologies for duplicate posts. Was getting error messages from future producer than all of a sudden all of them showed up.

Speakin of selling beats, can anybody tell me where I can get complete examples of some beats to semi model a formular after that can be rapped to for selling?
What I mean is the format like intro verse chorus etc without words.
I wan to sell beats but I really don't have a formula of how instrumental beats should be laid out. I go to beat selling websites to check out their beat instrumentals but they only post partial beats but not including breaks and bridges etc. which only partially helps.
I need a go to formula that generally works everytime at least enough to help me churn out some beats fast. Since I got laid off, I have enough saved up to last 2 years of pretty much 24/7 beat making to try and make the transition from pharmaceutical production which paid pretty well but I hated it, to music production which pays or not but I love the idea that I can make a real go of it and possibly enough money just to sustain me so I don't have to go back to that sh#t job well, not like I have a choice. I'll be asking lot of questions on this forum some of which will be dumbass questions to get myself going.
I've got good music software and daw and palenty of time. Anybody willing to share what they know I'll soak it up.

No. No formal or usable theory. Just ear and some home recording equipment and alot of time. Tried learning theory more than a few times. Made me too miserable.

Well, time, DAW and software is a start. But... you have a horribly long road ahead of you, and you need one more thing, and it's got to be natural in in yer blood, and thats TALENT. Brains, creativity, and savvy, with a "built in" BEAT. Ya got to hear music in yer head everytime you you stop to think. Then you got what you need. Peeps can try to explain it all to you, but you got to have raw talent.

Very true. But don't get me wrong. The road can't be harder than the road I traveled to become a full time road musician.
Actually, I made a full time living in road bands for 10 years back in the day. Club circuits back when in the late 70's (damn that was a long time ago) and from 1980 to 85, I was doing the casino's and hotel circuits 6 days a week so talent is not my issue. I have talent but I don't have to internet experience as it relates to how music has been migrating over. I would compare it to my migration from music hardware to midi and software. A major transition and at times a bit overwhelming until I figured out the order of things and correct choices to make. I'm very old school who decided to try selling music online. I do have some catching up to do as far as the internet technology and marketing is concerned.
