3 producers who inspired you

  • J Dilla
    • Influenced the way that I put down rhythms when writing melodies or sequencing drums. He was legendary with the MPC 3000.
  • Kanye West
    • Inspired me not to follow the crowd only to stay the same, but to explore new things. I'd like to see Kanye live on tour sometime.
  • Maxo (Not Maxo Kream, just Maxo)
    • A brilliant composer who writes what feels to me like very 'unorthodox' chord progressions and melodies.

in no particular order

Pre-Yeezus Kanye: Kanye despite all the shit he says and does, is one of the greatest producers of all time. He always pushes the envelope and inspires me with his creative direction. I do enjoy some of the new Ye's production but it wont hold a candle to his work on his older albums. I miss the old Kanye, chop up the soul Kanye *sheds tear*

Scott Storch: This dudes fucking nice with the keys. He practically produced all hip hop I listened to as a young kid growing up, from Fiddy to Dre. His arabian shit is what got me into producing low key and I didnt know he had as many producing credits as he does. I always thought his piano production was fire as well. He was running shit back in the day especially east coast rap (NY baby)

Zay-muddafucking-toven: This nigga is dead nice with it and the crazy shit is that it seems like he dont even try! He just goes church mode and kills shit. He shaped the whole way trap beats are made with his signature organ and piano style. I just think its dope how he used something so unlike the demographic he "sells to" to make something fire. He was getting clowned for bringing the church to the trap but now thats all you hear.

I would have to say my three would be "Mura Masa, Clams Casino, and Cashmere Cat." If we could add another, I would also put MadBliss up there.

Erez Eisen and Amit Duvdevani(infected mushroom), Simon Posford(Shpongle), Derek Vincent Smith(Pretty Lights)

Honestly though it's not just "producers" that have influenced me so much as musicians in general and that list could go on and on and on and on......

This is a tough question. There's different ways a producer can inspire you. Certain producers inspire differently and in defferent areas of your career. I think I'm going to drop three names that essentially made me set a standard to what I wanted to eventually sound like. Top three producers of all time that really, truly inspired me are in this order:

1. Dr. Dre. He shaped the way everybody approached Rap beats during the time I decided to begin making beats.

2. Puff Daddy. For his incredible work ethic and drive, I think everybody overlooks how big of an impact he made in modern mainstream Hip Hop with hit single after hit single.

3. Johnny Juliano. Maybe a little far fetched, but this is a personal favorite I think most of us can't deny. The guy just revolutionized beat making and being an online producer in so many ways. A few others branched off his platform and took it to an entire new level especialy on the business side of things, but by far my most recent and biggest influence.

puff daddy is extremely over looked as a producer i dont think many people even know he produces since he blew up big as a rapper
