Honestly the Mixtrack is great for mixing and adding some effects, but learning to scratch on it is very difficult. The crossfader isn't the most sensitive and its hard to keep track of your samples without being able to feel the platters' movement. I've enjoyed learning on it but have quickly outgrown it. I would say it is worth buying though because it will let you know if its something you want to pursue.

picking dj gear thats best for you can be broken down into a few factors:
1. budget - what can you afford
2. format - do you plan using vinyl, cd or midi or a combination of those. also does the music you like get released on that format?
3. portability - will your setup be sitting at home 24/7 or will you have to carry it around everywhere
4. plan - are you a hobbyist or do you plan on earning a living from djing, also do you aim to scratch, beat juggle and so on..
once you know the answers to those then you will begin to narrow down your options.

Okay tryna help out one of my best friends by asking on this forum, he wants to become a DJ, he want to start with DJing BREAKDANCE BEATS / HIP HOP, then after that some hard core club songs, techno.
He said he got a budget on around 1450-1500$, he doesn't know what to get. Can you help out?
Also wanna ask, how do you remix songs? Do you need to use some software and is it more like beatmaking than DJing?
Im not a DJ pro, so might ask alot of questions :P. All I know about DJing actually is scratching, beatmatching then changing song.
Not many people are replying in my thread so im using this one instead :P
My friend is going to this style later

If you're up to DJ in a less traditional way than 2 turntables and a mixer, you may want to get a used APC 40 and Ableton and DJ with that...I've never tried it but have a few friends that do some amazing stuff with it
