^ i would go with serato scratch live
i have heard it is pretty much the best on
if you are just starting i would go with virtual dj
yea i am starting i do beats 2 but i just wanna throw in sumtin datll give ma beats a lil more live feel wit da scratch and mixing instead of just using efx. but thnx im still lookin in to them.
Serato by a landslide.
Much bigger price tag though. I've heard bad things about scratching on Torq. Traktor Scratch Duo is another option.
If you have a choice between the two, go for Serato. It's a thousand times more stable and legit than Torq.
I will have to agree with what the other guys are saying! Serato Scratch Live is a quality product, a bit pricey but IMO totally worth it!
Can't really give an opinion on Torq but when I pulled the Serato out the other night at a gig one of the other DJ's said that he wished he'd bought Serato instead, didn't say why though!
i have both, i like Serato for it's more straight-fowardness, less cluttered interface, and vertical scrollin waveforms. i like Torq because of it's cheaper price, midi features, and rewire capability. if money is not an issue, i'd get Serato, if money is an issue, i'd get Torq. if you want midi and rewire features, then get Torq. if you want straight-foward DJ'n, get Serato. honestly, i've put Serato, Torq, and Deckadance thru thier paces and the only thing different about them are thier gui's. in essence, they all do the same basic thing which is DVS. above that, Serato wins in simplicity, no tricks no gimmicks, just DJ'n. Torq wins in price, and deckadance wins in most tricks in the bag, seeing as though you can use it rewired or as a plugin in ur DAW. as for the scratching and timing of them all, they were all equally on point on my 3.0GHZ processor w/2gigs ram, i didn't notice any lag between systems and all of my cuts/scratches were just as precise on Torq and Deckadance as they were on Serato. take this info from an old school DJ who still spins with 1200's, neither of them are a bad buy or a poor choice, just check your budget, see which has the features you want, and make your purchase. i don't know anything about Final Scratch, Virtual DJ, or Mixmaster, but the above 3 i can vouch for as being stable and responsive. hope that helps. if you feel like searching there is also a thread where i gave details of my DVS shootout somewhere in the archives.
