Wutsup all, i just recently ordered serato scratch live and i'm shopping around for a lap top. I've heard macs are the best for that program but i prefer a PC because i got a bunch of other recording software that only works on PC rather than mac. Anyway i've hard Dell Inspirons are pretty decent, but i gotta know how much ram and hard drive space would ensure max performance. THanks for the help

make sure you get at least 1024MB of DDR2/DDR Ram, some say 512mb is efficient but its not...if you want maximum performance get 1GB/2GB of DDR2/DDR Ram, if its possible get a laptop with 80GB or More Hardrive space (preferibly 100GB)

    Optimal Performance 80GB/512mb Ram
    Maximum Performance 100GB/1GB/2GB of Ram

Ya...I have Serato and A Dell Inspiron 8600. Works flawlessly. The main thing you wanna do to is purchase an external drive to store all your music.

I personnally put the program on the computer's hard drive and all my music on the external drive. I know JAzzy Jeff puts everything on the external drive and I guess there's no prob with that either. Works for fine for him too.

go hear and check what everybody else is using.

    but to answer your question.
i'm using a 1.2Ghz, P3, on XP Pro with 256MB of RAM. works just fine.
i haven't had to deal with the external drives or worried about any lag with my laptop either even though i'm only running 256MB of RAM. i am however going to pick some more up asap just as a buffer.
Push the boundries by sharing the knowledge.
