It takes about 5 mins to set up Traktor in a club , you just need a lead , if it cant be done then thats not the kind of place you need to be dj-ing.

2 WORDS FOR YA SEQUENCE... payment plan. Haha! No but seriously, what the others said about DJ'ing on any equipment no matter what the grade of quality is definitely true.. painfully true. You gotta be able to energize that crowd no matter what you're doing it with. As far as stepping up your game, and getting your gear up to "industry standard" as most call it, look into places that offer payment plans. Yeah some of these places do the whole credit check for approval things, but look into the ones that offer smaller payplans, and build up man. We all gotta start somewhere, I use that little 3 payplan offered at american musical quite a bit for that very purpose, my credit sucks. But, thats one that doesn't require the little cred check, so it works nice. Plus, after you get a couple ( I think i got like 3 or 4) under your belt, they are going to be more likely to hook it up bigger and better one of these days. Woerth a shot, and hey, it's better than lay-away. Haha. Take care man and happy spinning!

Yup Older Pioneers will prepare you well enough, either rented or borrowed from a friend.
I happened to be friends the manager of a club; him, I and a promoter ordered some pizza and chilled at the club a few hours before opening time. I was easily able to pick them up.

I love to DJ but I also love to produce.. but I am questioning what I should do if I should ever reach a certain point in my musical career (That is, Djing in clubs, which I hope to someday do)
I know I can get there but one thing holding me back is the gap between my home DJ tool (Traktor) and the 'club' standard for Djing (Pioneer CDJ2000/ DJM) - standard for the shows that I go to (Trance)
There is no chance in hell they would let me come and set up my Traktor as an opening act, so my question is:
How did you upgrade from your home dj setup (As I assume most beginner DJ's don't go on whim and spend $6500 - $7500 on the Pioneer stuff) to the Pioneer DJ setup found in most clubs
Rich parents? Rich friends? Split the cost with a friend?
I am going to start saving.. but I wanted to know how other people made it to using the pro stuff!

Dude, I'm a trance DJ too and I'll tell you straight up SCREW THE PROFESSIONAL GEAR! It does not matter, and I know it because there are tons of DJS who use digital gear like us, I'm an S4 DJ myself, there is nothing that makes us different. Our audience does not care what we play on; they only care about the music! Don't let the local kids tear you up, because you're not on high priced equipment. I can destroy half the unsigned talent in my local area, and I have low level equipment. It's not what you use, but how you use it.

Don't let them get to you, and put on one hell of a show when it's your time to shine.

Start with not so expensive equipment and really learn ALLLLL the basics of every aspect about DJing.........money doesn't buy pure skill.

I would definitely start off on small stuff, that way if you don't like mixing you aren't out a lot of money.
