A question to those who DJ in clubs

I've been doing music for almost 2 years now.. Spent $7500 on all my gear and I am happy with the results i've been having thus far (Money was spent on synths, programs for producing and also DJ equipment (Only DJ piece of equipment I own is my Traktor Kontrol S4, which is amazing and is fantastic for beginners)
I love to DJ but I also love to produce.. but I am questioning what I should do if I should ever reach a certain point in my musical career (That is, Djing in clubs, which I hope to someday do)
I know I can get there but one thing holding me back is the gap between my home DJ tool (Traktor) and the 'club' standard for Djing (Pioneer CDJ2000/ DJM) - standard for the shows that I go to (Trance)
There is no chance in hell they would let me come and set up my Traktor as an opening act, so my question is:
How did you upgrade from your home dj setup (As I assume most beginner DJ's don't go on whim and spend $6500 - $7500 on the Pioneer stuff) to the Pioneer DJ setup found in most clubs
Rich parents? Rich friends? Split the cost with a friend?
I am going to start saving.. but I wanted to know how other people made it to using the pro stuff!

A good DJ can spin on any equipment you don't need to own it all to be able to use it.

"I always feel sampling is a great look because I think when people play keyboards, if you’re not a tremendous keyboard player, I don’t think you should hit a few notes and call that Hip-Hop" – Lord Finesse

most clubs will have their own setup anyway so you most likely wont have to buy expensive gear, you will just have to learn how to use it. if you know anyone with a similar setup ask to try it out to get used to it or else rent a pair for a day or 2 to practice on.
getting a residency somewhere will mostly come from knowing the right people, get to know other djs, event organisers and club owners around the place. if youre any good youll get your foot in the door by covering for other djs in case of emergency and if you do well it will become a regular thing.

It' not that I don't know how to mix (I do, and I can successfully)
But going from a traktor to a pioneer is a huge leap.. they have cue point USB sticks, miniature monitors which I don't know how to navigate through and other controls
feeling comfortable with the equipment would be a huge advantage compared to walking into a scenario where it would be your first gig at a club.. and if you don't know how to use the pioneers then you will more than likely set yourself up for not getting a call back (And in this business.. first impressions are everything)

You don’t need to buy these! I know some people who sold their gear because they’re playing several times a week, so no need to have a gear at home anymore.

Like already said, you just need to learn how to use them. Perhaps some friends who have the gear? Basically almost all of the Pioneer stuff is the same, the buttons are the same place and the functions are more or less the same! So you don’t need to find someone with the EXACT gear! You don’t need to use the screens either on the 2000s, you can just simply mix with the CDs and use the buttons on the left to skip through the tracks. Or maybe also watch some videos on Youtube!

But one thing I didn’t really understand… do you have some sort of MIDI controller or something? Or do you just mix with the Traktor software? Because if that is so, you will first need to learn beatmatching.

PS: You said you want to reach a point in your career — just wanting to say that there is no DJ who becomes „famous“, all the people like Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren became well known because of their productions, not because of their DJing. Actually, a lot of producers suck at DJing (and even more DJs suck at producing). The whole DJ stuff is just for the producers to play/promote their tunes, and the tunes from people and labels they’re associated with.

    Good Luck

Like other people said just renting the gear and getting used to it for a couple days should be fine. It might cost like $100 to rent it for a few days, and you'll make that back in 1 gig.

Also DJing in a club isn't really that big of a goal, lol (unless it's a specific club that's big or something). It's kind of like setting your goal as a guitarist to play at an open mic or something these days. Pretty much anyone who wants to can do it with next to no effort. Not trying to burst anyone's bubble but if that's really all you want to do it shouldn't take much time at all... make mixes, promote yourself, pass em out to people who are involved with promoting/clubs.

Doesn't matter what CDJ's you use! They all have a play/pause and cue button. What else do you need??? Ignore all the funky lights and knobs. I've never used them as a DnB DJ.

if you mix the S4 by ears its the same with the pioneers.. if you do syncing try real beatmatching.. also you dont need those cdjs to be prepeared.. you can buy the pioneers cdj200 used for a fairly cheap price and then just go and hit the 2000's in a club.. they are the same just with extra FX's, loop options and small screens letting you easier browse and showing you the groove
