    pcdj buffering

Hey, I'm new to the forum and have a question regarding the PCDJ red program (I own version 5.0). Every once in awhile when I'm playing tracks on autopilot or autoshuffle (basically just letting the device run itself) there are a few files that take a rediculous amount of time to load into memory. About 15 seconds into a song that is playing (when the device begins to cue the next track) the computer bogs down using all of its resources to load the new track into memory, and consequently causes the track that is playing to skip and plays what is resident in the 10-second buffer over and over again until the track is fully loaded. This can be up to 10 different repeats of 10 seconds of the song that is in memory (usually 2-3 but still annoying).

One problem with one of my machines is that I am loading the files off a network and not the hard drive and a lot of the problem with my living room unit is that the connection is only 10Mbps to the server where the files are located, which will be fixed soon. I know this amplifies any problem I am having with computer resources. But even when I run PCDJ directly from the server where the files are located, it still has problems at times where it will repeat 10 seconds of a song until the second track is fully loaded. I took it off autocue (so it always starts at 0:00.00 but that still didn't fix it)...

So my question is this: Is there a way to down-prioritize the second track loading into memory so it does not use all the resources to load the track, or is there some fix to this issue that you guys might know about that I do not? I asked my friend who runs PCDJ red in his bar this question and he acted like he had never experienced this problem (and he frequently just runs in autopilot/shuffle modes, nothing fancy). I don't think my boxes are the problem as I'm running fast (2.0GHz+) processors in both my computers and not a lot of background processes on either machine (the one with my sound system is bare bones except for pcdj and the network processes necessary to connect to the server). But yet I still have problems with both machines. Does somebody know how to fix this problem? Thank you to anyone that responds.

    I know the fix,

However, I would upgrade to the version 5.2 from their support page, its a much better build then that old 5.0.

Go to your control panel in windows and double click on sounds and audio devices (or multimedia), then go to the audio tab and select the advanced options under sound playback. Then, go to the performance tab. Now, Step back the hardware acceleration 1 notch. Apply this change and see if your problem still exists. If it does, repeat this process of stepping back the acceleration one notch again. This should definitely resolve your issue

THANK YOU, Caracticus_1. Slowing down the hardware accel fixed most of the problem....and the upgrade fixed the rest (apparently the upgrade can index some of those hard to load files so they only cause trouble once).

Thank you, you have helped out more than you can imagine. My PCDJ works as it should.

    Out,
