when Im at home I tend to practice a bunch of new turntable tricks within the mix,Usually my practice sessions are kinda lame, because iM always trying something new. Anyways, when my friends are over and I do a new trick or whatever I think it sounds sh**ty, but my friends think it sounds cool? why is that?

I kinda gave up on asking my friends for opinions....They always say it's good....:P And I know some of it is complete shite.....I like to get a non bias opinion by giving to other DJ's and promotors so they can rip me apart and make me cry

I have a feeling this is because alot of people dont really know what Dj'ing is really about. When i ask my freinds what they think of my mixes they say i am sweet.....But i know i suck cause its been like one month. This one girl came to my house and requested that i "Dj" for her. I put on one record and she goes "YOU DID THAT>? WOW THATS AWESOME" lol i didnt even touch the record.....Heheheh
Moral of this story: People are stupid.

yeah, it's really cool to impress people by doing stupid things like, dunno, cutting the bass or something haha
I always feel pretty stupid if I get comliments of people that don't know **** about it.., cuz in the end, what you're really doing isn't nowhere as difficult as they think it is

one time at a small house party a friend of mine had, i was spinning but i wasn't paying too good of attention. i started cuing a record up (i back cued for about 8 measures) and then released it into a new phrase. the track was way too slow so i jacked the pitch up about 6 clicks and nudged the vinyl up to speed, got lucky and happened to leave the pitch right on and the track was matched up well. then i look at the fader and saw that i had left it wide open the whole time (dumbass). i though "god damnit!" and slammed the crossfader over, i looked up and a 3 or 4 peeps at the end of the room were throwing their arms up and clapping and givin me thumbs up and sh!t. funny how djs and non-djs differ when it comes to listenning to someone spin.

    story time...

Okay, one time when I first started spinnin my friends asked me to spin their party at uri...my first party...anyway i got there and after the 1st attempt got broken up by police and we moved (1 block away) to another house i started spinnin....at first i was doing alright....everyone was way into it

then..as the night progressed and i drank more and more, as you can imagine i started to suck more and more...okay a few more beers i said to myself...alright, a beat off here and there, no biggy...

then they started handin me shots of whiskey, bad bad bad idea....god only knows how many times i messed up, but i remember this one time...the record almost completley ran out and i had to slam the fader over to the other side just to keep the beats going....lol, everyone said i was awesome and they (still) want me to come back there...
