i never used used Dateq or Rodec (did used Rodec once... but just for 10 min.)
but they got some pretty good rap. when it comes to build and quality (Also, Ecler are very good, i tried the Smac series, but their Mac and Sclat are also known for their high quality)
i think the best man to help u will be Thy...
u are looking at some good shiz (top shiz actually), that's good! there is a saying here in Israel, "IF SO, THAN SO" meaning, if u do something, do it the best u can....

Ok I keep it short this time

Rodec : Belgian brand, once the standard in most clubs (Rodec MX180 is still famous here) of the world. Known for it's awesome construction quality and sound (EQ's are among the best I know, no kills, but who needs them with that quality). They were the first to make a dj mixer with 3-band EQ on each channel, so they know what they are doing. You could compare them to the SL1200. No gadgets (for example, only effects send/return on the mic, no kills, ...), pure sturdiness.

Formula Sound : (not sure which country, Germany or UK) Great mixers, they use very good internal components (also good built, spill fluids on it and you won't damage much). This mixer was designed as a production mixer at first. Good EQ's too.

Dateq : Dutch brand, construction quality is of the same level as Rodec. EQ's are a little less performant, but sound quality is still awesome. Once the standard in Holland. They were the inventors of the Transform/Punch buttons (on their XTC).

Ecler : Spanish manufacturer. High grade mixers, especially the MAC and SCLAT series. Many clubs still use MACs. EQ's are less qualitative, but they compensate with less distortion (MAC 90i has external power supply to reduce noises). SCLAT series are known for their modularity. Great mixers. Their amps are awesome also (PAM series). (For an indication, all the clubs in Belgium that don't use the DJM's (quite a lot), 80% use Rodec/Ecler (MX180/MACs))

Glockenlang : hmm first time I heard they made mixers, I thought they only made guitar amps. Gimme some more info on these.

Hi-Level : German brand. Quite good quality, but IMHO just pale copies of Rodecs.

Freevox : French brand. Possibly the only brand that can claim to have EQ's as good as Rodecs on dj mixers. Awesome quality, but way more pricy. So far I only saw them in France, but they are still the standard in the big clubs there (Freevox Dj 7 and Dj Club). Design and sound is comparable to the discontinued Soundcraft DMix 1000

Rane : the MP2016 is probably the best rotary mixer on the market right now (worthy successor of the UREI). Also the MP44 has the same build and sound quality you might expect from them.

I'm getting a Xone myself, I wanted a Rodec for a long long time, but I gotta face it the Xone has more features I'll probably use later (+same number of channels as the MX240). The Rodec is still an option though.

As for the DJM 500 vs 600 question. I say it depends (I always say that ). The main differences are the sampler on the 600 and the better faders + xfader curve control (+some minor changes in my eyes). Some guys say that's worth the extra bucks, others say it isn't worth it at all. I'm not the one to decide on that.

Of course Thy said it all plus a few more... so what's left for me is, IMHO the price dif. between the 500 and 600 is worthy. I may not know much about equipment but I know a bit of human nature, so if you can afford, get the 600 or you may end up wishing you did, hehehe...

Serious, they seem small improvements but the final resulat is more than just the sum of the parts - meaning the DJM600 is a better and improved mixer over the 500 (IMHO, 'cos I play a lot of 500 at clubs and gigs and own myself a 600 at home!)

And Thy, get lost you... you... you know-it-all!!!
