Experienced producer, New to DJing - Need advice

Hi Futureproducers community,

I have been producing hip hop instrumentals (golden age sample style) for a few years now, and want to take things to the next level by learning to DJ my music live with any MC's I collaborate with. I currently produce on FL Studio 10 with an akai MPD18 and a Yamaha DGX-202 keyboard. I am wondering if anyone has any advice pertaining to DJing specifically aimed at my style of production. Should I purchase certain gear for my setup? Or should I just follow any beginner DJ guides and purchase equipment recommended? DJ Premier is a large influence of mine, if that helps at all.

Your ear is the thing that will get you through the learning phase and the equipment is going to be a matte rof choice if you use turntables to sample I say go Numark TTX to get started or if your a serious gear head go in with the controller route.

I was wondering more about technique. I have a turntable, FL Studio, an audio interface and a mixer.

Buy a Rane mixer a pair of turntables and make it work!
