    I regularily switch.
    1) It destroys both my ears equally
    2) if you ever get to spin in a very loud venue, and the monitor is at the same side as your "usual" cueing, it can give you problems. So it's better to train both ears.

    Ear Protection

Do any DJ's out there use any kind of ear protection so they don't blow at their ears and stuff?

mixers have booth volumes and cue volumes, if you are blowing out your ears, you aren't too smart.

i cue in the ear that is the farthest from the monitor. and i keep the cue level very low so that you can hear it just enough so that it doesn't overpower the other ear

When playing in venues where high cueing volumes are required, I use earplugs (get them at the pharmacy). Those earplugs stop certain frequencies, just those that are most annoying and dangerous.

I always lose my good earplugs, so most of the time I end up using those thick yellow ones that cut out all the bass, most of the mids and a huge chunk of the highs.
