Behringer limiters, OK. As for the mixers, let's just say that the less we talk of them, the better.

Why not take a peek on Ebay and see if there are any used broadcasting consoles for cheap? You can find old CCA and Autogram consoles for next to nothing, they'll sound alright and work easily.

as much as I hate Behringer, I still recommend the DX-1000 for braodcast use (well, for CHEAP AS DIRT broadcast use)

I think you can find one for $200-300. My friends have had one for almost 2 years...they use it every day, the spin HARD techno and are very aggressive with it (upfaders an x-fader) and it is still 100% fine...no bleeding or anyhting....very surprising for such a cheap mixer!

And it has enough ins and outs to suit all your needs...

It's really not bad....for some reason its better than other Behringer products

I have to back up dynagroove on the SP-15 and SP-25 reccomentations. The radio station that I worked in used them with very good results. They are built like tanks and available for a reasonable price. They are not very dance dj friendly and that could be an advantage. It was for us... they never got stolen.

I have grown to detest the SP-25 after having to use them once a week for awhile... Just be as patient as possible and find a used set of 1200s...

Cool lots of great info. The mixer situation is pretty bad at the station. The Behringer looks like a decent mixer. I'm still clueless on the limiter I'm not really sure how to pick out a cheap but effective rack. For the turntables, I decided on going with a couple of Numark tt 1's, the 1200s might get stolen and I am donating the tables out of my own pocket so I don't risk losing $500-600.
The show I'm doing is on Friday nights pacific time at SFLR streaming on the web at Liberationradio.net
The show is called the Rawness and I spin a mix of Jazz, hard funk, electronic, urban beats, latin, and indie rock. My friend spins drum & bass, two step ragga and other cool joints. We joke around a bit and generally have a good time while hopefully educating the audience with some great music. Hope you all listen in over the web this Friday night!!

I second the DX1000 choice. I am a great hater of Behringer. There are numerous posts where i've slated the VMX series. However the 1000 is at such a low price and seems to work fine from my experience.

As for the limiter again Behringer will do you fine. There production equipment really isnt as bad as there DJ equipment. I've used a Behringer Compressor/Gate at college a couple of hundred times and nothing has broken yet.

In terms of direct drive tables, I just came back from another session with the tt-500 numark tables. I don't know, they seriously feel cheap to me. The tonearm feels like it might snap off, and the mechanism for tightening the headshell just feels weak. I just plain don't trust these tables. I adjusted the break all the way as well, and still couldn't get them to stop as quick at my 1200s.
