I think people compare the 100S to the 1200 because they're both workhorses. Neither are fancy, they just do the job in its simplest form.

p.s. Problems with Axis 8 are sorted out with the Axis 9.
Thanx. I am starting to lean more towards the Axis 9, now to be honest. But I still haven't completely made up my mind.

At all the sites I've been to so far the Denon is quite a bit more expensive than the Numark. There is usually a £100 price difference between the two, sometimes more. Where have you seen them for the same price?

I think you're right. Nicely put

i'm using decks.co.uk as a reference for these prices, but I see the numark for 245 and the Denon for 380 (pounds). I've seen a great price for the denon at agiprodj (around $360 if i remember correctly). Pretty good for our currency. Your going to have to do some froogle searches (try to stay with official dealers though) on the Axis 9 and S1000. Do you have anywhere to go to try these players out before you buy them? If not look around for videos; they are usually highly biased but its better than nothing.

*can't find any good ones for the axis...its not a fantastic scratcher. hope this all helps!

Hey, thanks for the links and advice. There is one DJ shop reasonably close to where I live where I might be able to audition certain players. Yes, I did check out decks.co.uk and the price difference between the two units is quite noticeable. Thanks again

Auditioning the equipment you are choosing from will help you a great deal with coming up with what would best suit you.

I have the axis 9's, and in my opinion are pretty good - on board effects which cdj100 doesn't have. Don't get me wrong, i do like the pio's too but i didn't want to get a seperate effect unit at that time, hence i went with the axis. But if you're looking to scratch on it, i advise you this is not the unit for you. yes you can do simple scratch like baby's and transforms and simple chirps, but doing more advanced ones would be quite hard. The TT is still the best equipment for scratching... and i would go for the techs - a tried and tested work-horse. But then again it's all down to you.

    Pz!

I went to my local DJ shop - just a small, privately owned one. But I was able to have a go on a couple of Geminis they had set up. The important thing was that I now know that am am happy with the feel of a CD deck, something I was in the dark about before. For some reason it makes the choice of deck much easier. The Axis 9 does seem like a safe bet and the best price I've found for it beats the best price for the Pioneer anyway
