i've been spinning for about 2 years. and i've done a fair amount of gigs. but one thing i've been told is that i need a dj name. On flyers it look corny with just my name. so what is some of ur names, and how did u think of them. I know a name is just supposed to come about, and not have one jsut to have one. but i might as well start thinking, so if u got one y dont u tell me

I just go by my real name, or Mattu, which has been my nickname by my friends for the last 10 years or something.

So, unless your name is like Youghurt Pumpernickle I think you should go by your real name. It's cooler, truer and more serious than just picking a random DJ Jiggahurtz or something.

I personally don't have a dj name yet either... But I think that the name should have meaning behind it, cuz name recognition does alot for the dj.

I always play under my real name (simon), simple clean and easy.

Btw, if you happen to see a 'Lake Forrester' playing at a club near you, you just HAVE to catch his act, awesome! ;)

i'm dj flock

i grew up on a sheep ranch. a couple of years ago my knowledge of sheep(i am a fourth generation sheep rancher) got me a summer job herding sheep. i was spinning at a party when a friend came up and started yelling "IT'S DJ FLOCK!!"
since then i've used it as my dj name as its easier than figureing out my own and a name that reminds me of my roots so to speak...

punosion

Write "sound" on a piece of paper, rotate it 180 degrees, and add "ion" at the end.

Two of my friends came up with it while playing with refrigerator magnets. I thought it was a pretty cool word...it's completely unique. So I adopted it as my online nickname for forums and whatnot.

I do agree with the full name thing though...there is, however, a certain panache with "Sasha & John Digweed."

EDIT: BTW, "punosion" is supposed to be written out in all small letters. ;)

i came up with this one on a whim one day...

i really liked the manic street preachers, and i always thought umek (and track manik) was badass. when i started out, that's exactly the kind of techno dj i wanted to be. bing bam boom, ya got dj manik.

even though i've never played a proper gig out, if i did i'd never use it. i also kind of think that dj names are a little passe if they have dj in front of them.

DJ H2O

i have a semi-unique last name of RAINWATER and my friends back in the day started to call me h2o..so im guessin it has some meaning behind it.

That's cool, I'd stick with Rainwater though.

Gene pool is a tag or something, Pixelchef is my moniker for the desing work I do. If I don't use my name (Eugene) I use Genedefekt, given to me for some obvious (and some not so obvious) reasons.

I think DJ RAINWATER sounds wackness.
So i shortened it to the scientifical meaning.

YOU BIG BULLY.

2 parts hydrogen + 1 part oxygen = h2o

No time to talk..retainer is in the shop..must go pick it up.

put on a little weight since last time I saw you, didn't you? oh, and I see you finally decided to start up that Five Star Entertainment you always talked about! that's great. Must be a great feeling not being a mall cop anymore, right?

well... it already degraded to Four Star Entertainment. last week i phucked up some mixes at a Mormon weddingparty in Salt Lake City and the trainwreck-police took of one star for that....

wish i was a cop again...

Hello...my name is

My real name is George Diab, which is a bummer of a name.

But I added a "lo" at the end and....

DJ George Diablo! <now that is snazzy>

George Diablo? Sounds like a porn star name.

...which makes it even cooler! hehehehehe:D I'd like to call myself Jimmy Largerod but I'd feel cheesy.
