Tips for A DJ/Live Producer looking to start making a set.

I've been creating music for sometime now, but I've gotten inspired some time ago to start making a live set, using my Numark Mixtrack Pro+Virtual DJ Pro paired with an Akai MPK49 controlling a handful of vst software.

My set is going to integrate my synth/drum machine software and Virtual DJ for a live jam essentially.

I'm looking for any tips for digital djing, especially on technique, segues/transitions, etc.
I'm not exactly new to digital spinning, but I have a alot to learn.
And any tips for someone constructing such a live set would be much appreciated.

Also I have a few questions of my own,
For one, I've looked around enough to know that Virtual DJ isn't exactly the most regarded dj software out there. I tried using Serato, but it won't let me configure audio outputs so I can't even use it correctly. And Traktor's interface seems oversimplified. I want to know what you guys think.

I'm also looking for additions to my library as far as track selection.
Any suggestions for a downtempo/chillwave/instrumental hip hop set. Or a 80's Vicewave/Synthpop set.

Thanks you, and Cheers FP Community. :D
