i am buying new monitors for my home studio and
i am a little confused between the two. i produce edm
thanks

Haven't used either. Quick google appears tannoy's are quite more expensive which should say something there. But i'd advise to go into a store and listen.

Also you making EDM irrelevant

the problem is that there are no stores nearby that sell these monitors, in fact there is no store where i can buy studio monitors so i will b ordering them online.
my budget is around $250.

I had the old blue Tannoy Reveals years ago... They were very nice monitors... The new range is apparently an improvement but those 4" drivers 'will' struggle a bit to render heavy bass...

But out of the two options you've given... I'd go with the Tannoy's hands down!

I have used the M-Audio AV40s for a couple of years, they are OK, and that is far as it goes, they don't handle bass too well. I would switch them in an instant. I have no experience of the Tannoys but due to my experience with the M-Audios, being my first monitors, I would also recommend saving up just a little longer so you can get something of a higher range. When I was buying, i was looking for the cheapest fix really, which I now regret.
