Hey peoples

Im lookin at picking up a QFO. Im looking at combining it with my cdjs as my scratching console.. im thinking of using the QFOs combined mixer as the central mixer and run the CDJs and or my powerbook... As far as i can see this should work.. it has two line in RCAs and basic EQs...

so my questions would be..

Does anyone have a QFO? Comments would be appreciated..
Anyone know a good deal online? Since thudrumble pack is sold out..
In terms of plugging in my powerbook, will i need an audio interface.. something like a USB or firewire unit?
Is the difference between the QFO(silver) and the QFO LE(black) the lack of EQs apart from trim on the black unit?
Am i better off picking up a Vestax PDX2000?
Know any well priced decent active speakers?
Anyother advice or comments on my setup plans?

Peaceballs
Hugh

FYI: im on an small island 40kms off the coast of Japan, havin a ball

e bay!!

if you wanna hook it all to a notebook!! have a look also(if your budget alows) for a serato scratch, jazzy jeff uses them!! i got one too!! and belive me!! they are dope!!

and the actual box is a sound card, the same a simular things like stanton final scratch (has more features and effects than serato, but more exp)

play all your mp3s of em, scratch like a mother ****er!!, no skipping, and for you! no need for buying vinyl!! they are about 300 notes!! or try second hand!!

if not look for an external sound card!! most on the market with those specs will cost you about 150 +

the qfo is mint!! we had one, but sold it a while back!! to be honest, they are a bit of a novilty really!! i see that you might want it cos you dont need another mixer!! the faders are sweet, and its rock solid!! but for 800 new!! if you got the money though!! go for it!! i had alot of fun with it when it was there, got it signed to by q, sold it for 950 cos of that a year later with no gaurentee!!

so if you get your mitts on that one, you kow where it came from!! its out there somewhere!!

DJ Flare said that he does not like his because he's tall and has long arms. Since the CF is so close to the record, it is not comfortable for him.

Short Filipinos on the other hand.. LOL

www.pssl.com has the QFO for $1,199

All you should need is a stereo mini to RCA adapter to plug directly into one of the inputs on the QFO.

I believe another difference is that the LE comes equipped with a Qbert Ortofon Concorde cartridge.

Any other advice or comments on my setup plans?

If you want to explore beat juggling also, then I would go with your traditional 2 tt's and a mixer...

k i got serato thinking that id never have to buy records again but its not the case

i mean where u meant to get ur mp3s from?

mp3s????

GET ANY PEER TO PEER LOADER, E MULE, E DONKEY, LIME WIRE, ********, ARES, WHATEVER AND DOWNLOAD EM FOR FREE!!

OR get your cds and get a convirter, i use wavelab 4, but there are many out there!! RIP THE CD TRACKS AS MP3S ON TO YOUR HARD DRIVE,

you could buy them if you wanted to off many internet sites, but i prefur lime wire, easy to use and you can get pretty much what you like, or copy vinyl, borrow cds off mates etc and rip em, you can find so many sources for your music, its just if you feel you want to do it legally or not!

Yeah, you can do this if you want viruses up the a$$. No joke, you download 400 songs, everything is going well, then bam, you lose it all. It happens way to often. If your going to go this route, get the absolute best virus protection software out there. Even if you spend $300 on a virus protector, it still might be cheaper than $1 a song. You take the gamble.

As for copying CDs, thats a little better. However, dont do anything with CDs made by Sony. Sony inserted a thing so that computers cant copy CDs, and it also unfortunatly puts a little tracker thing on your computer that viruses locate and attack. It wasnt meant for this, but it happens. Watch out.

Getting Mp3s is a testy business. Check this out though before you do anything:

just get avg anti virus!! if you get a free peer 2 peer loader, just try and get the pro version off there!! with the free ones you can be forced up load files, which may sod your pc up that why the pro editions come out!!

mp3 are usually clean!! avg will get rid of practically everything!! and its free!!

viruses come in zip files or exe files, but they can be hidden by changing the look of a file so an exe is an mp3/wmv etc, but this is rare!! scan all files that you get just to be safe!! but you will find that its not the music that you get viruses/trackers from!! its porn!! and infected applications!!

cool man cheers

yeah i got lime wire pro but a lot of the tunes on their aint full choons and stuff.... plus there aint that many instrumentals or accapellas on there

guess i just need to spend more time looking for stuff

you gotta remember that cos its peer 2 peer its all about when you go on!!

ive had som many accas and instrumentals off there over the time, just hit it ramdomly, and to get full tunes just make sure that you get files which are big enough to be the complete tune 4,000kb or so!!

also have a look at bear share, ******** and e mule!! they do surches outside the gruntella networks which lime wire uses, so it gives you more opportunity, just dont run them all at the same time or you will spend half the day un freezing your pc!!

don't think about playing them at a show though.. no promoter will ever bring you back if you use pirated mp3s.. I think you could still buy records and rip them, thus saving the life and not having to carry them around

there are ways round the pirated side of things!!

if you copy someone elses cd, you can have that mp3 with their concent, aslond as you are not making money of public performences!!

ahh!! you might think!!!

you are getting payed for your skill not the music, if you look on any recorded format it will say something to these means, not for public broadcast without producers aggreement!!

if you have an mp3 from the internet peer to peer site then the only way you would get clocked is if someone actually looked through your tunes, the likelyhood of this happening is rare, if you really want to be safe, then import them all into wavelab and re write them!!

you get asked, and you got them off friends/your records/your cds whatever!!
as long as you default the properties of the rewriten file to have no details then there is no way to find out that they were of someone 2000 miles away on another pc!!

even in the final scratch manual and on an mp3 lpayer it states that copying cds and getting mps is ilegal and you may get in to trouble but these things are fully avalable!! there are always loop holes in any system!!

as your profession as a dj, you can try befor you buy! got them off a friend to see how it goes down, if it does i will buy the vinyl,

what if you owned the cd, copyed it then sold the cd at a later date??

what if you copyed it from a record and sold it at a later date,

downloaded on another pc from a kosha site and copyed it to cd for your own use, you payed!! right!!

if you owned the origianal and its ilegal to copy it are you expected to buy another?? cd ripping is ilegal, but only if you intend to sell the music, if you are not making money then even if it got investigated, what could they do?? nothing!! because you are the product, the music isnt!!
