make an acapella?

Hello people!
i was wondering if anyone knows how to make an acapella versions out of pop songs?

I mean deleting the background music and leaving only the voice of the singer!?
if you know would u tell me what software i need or something like this! (i only know about this freq. deleting thing but it only deletes part of the back music and not all of it.

Help plz!
