36 mafia started Buck Music which was the predecessor to Crunk.
I agree, but I don't think you can forget Lil Jon as far his influence on ATL music because he was laying it down b4 TI hit and 36's stuff was more bouncy early on (sipping on syrup, ridding spinners etc). TI definitively labeled it though. Now that I think about it, could you say southern bounce led to trap music?
well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuseee meeee
but I think T.I was the one to give it the term "Trap Muzik" . . . even though the production on there was reminiscent of 90's Kast/UGK/Organized Noise, there was the "occasional brass beat" on there though. Jeezy Shawty Redd'nem were the ones to push through the mainstream with the sound it has today.
Southside all together before an argument breaks out. H-town screw, Mannie had the brass way back even though it was bounce, Lil Jon had crunk before we called it Crunk, Organized Noize were great/classic (really advanced shit for the time), and I think 36 just piggy backed what was going on in the ATL.
Atl piggy backed off what 36mafia was doing. Lil jon took the repetitive hooks that came from buck music and instead of just doing them for the chours he did them thru out the whole song. Lil jon had more synth based beats while 36mafia's where more so sample based.
This (Buck Music)
Became this (Early Crunk)
Which became this (Crunk as we know it today)
Like said before the term "Trap Muzik" more than likely started with T.I and Dj Toomp. However the "Trap Beat" and sound you hear today when you think about a trap beat is from Shawty Redd.

Interesting, I knew of 36's contributions but I'm wondering where does Pastor Troy fit into this whole thing ?
I heard he also had an influence on early crunk alongside Lil Jon.
