I live in Winnipeg...

Used to have a radio station here that would play TONS of local rap but it got replaced by an R&B station which sucks in comparison. Most of the local rap in Winnipeg is aboriginal and that's usually for better for worse. Heard some good songs now and then on the local station but many of them devolved into constant references of random Winnipeg neighborhoods or references to the really cold winters (even Cam'ron knows my city is notoriously cold). There's definitely not a whole lot of innovation up here compared to places like Chicago, Detroit, New York, etc.

Overall, wouldn't say the rap scene is that strong in Winnipeg. Most of the people around here that I know either listen to country or top 40.

I have no clue what our local scene looks like. I try to stay out of it.

This

I do know our local scene is pretty dead. I have seen two different local groups and both sucked swamp water.

I did get kicked onto this kid Karma Knows who shows a lot of promise and is local

Kid got some skills...Where is he/ you from?

He is from Kennewick, WA which is just across the river from where I live in Richland. Buddy of mine who kicked me onto him says he is something like 16 yrs old but he has some pretty dope rhymes and if he keeps it up could easily go places.
