So Gaga has about 12.6 mil single DL sales from this list, and her albums together have about 2.9 mil.

Assuming a royalty of 10-15 cents on each album (that's being generous, right?) that would be 290 - 435k from album sales.

Assuming a royalty of 3-6 cents on each single sale, that would be 378 - 756k.

Digital album sales are included in the first list, right?
    Yeah, **** you too...

^^^Album royalties are generallt 3-6 cent on the dollar as well until you're in a position of power. So every album sold at $10 generates 30-60 cents(easiest way to do it). But I think Gaga produces and writes too. That starts to change things. But she's also a new artist, she could be stuck with 4 cent a record the next 5 records she does.

Two things that annoy me are people who are positive out of ignorance, and people who are negative out of bitterness. People who are neither usually get along with me and agree with most of what I say. People who are one of the 2 think I'm the other.

True, I forgot to account for the fact that royalties are generated on the dollar, not just a "sale". 2.9 mil albums @ $10 a piece, 30-60 cents of each would be 870k - 1.74M

So are sales of albums at different prices accounted for then?

Say Target sells a Gaga CD for $10, but Best Buy charges $13....2.9M @ $13 a piece, 39-78 cents of each would be 1.13M - 2.26M. That's 30% more royalties being generated, not a small difference when you get to millions of sales.

Oh and I thought Leona Lewis's album was dope, but that's just me....
The problem with that leona Lewis album was the lack of promotion + the fact that they filled her album with depressing ballads that all sounded the same. I don't get how A&R's working right now. I mean why don't split the record up like we have 12 tracks = 4 ballads + 3 club songs + 3 RnB type songs + 2 rock type songs. Isn't it that hard to bring out a versatile record with many styles ?
And with those 3 club joints they could promote her album everywhere...

Yup, that's why upc codes are on CDs. No different than UPC codes are on every box of cereal. If you buy your frosted flakes with a dollar off coupon, Food Lion(the distributor)as well as Kellogs(The manufacturer) know.

An alarm goes off and a millionaire CEO goes home to beat his wife every time he loses that dollar. Remember that when you use coupons!

It's just easier for estimation purposes to count every CD as a $10 sale. They range from $8.99-12.99 on avg. 10 just makes it easy, just add a zero on the end of your number. lol.

I also overstress every deal is different, so don't think 3-6 cent when you hear of an artist getting 16 cent on every dollar or even 60 cent. That just indicates they knew what they were doing when they got that sweet deal.

That's a good point, there really are no marketable singles off that album; I wasn't thinking about it from an audience standpoint. I just downloaded and listened to it expecting a Leona Lewis album lol.

Gotta admit though, it's hilarious to see all these big-name artists getting trumped by Susan Boyle....

50 Cent, Chris Brown, Timbo, Rihanna, Shakira, freaking Young Money....none of them did anywhere near as good as Susan Boyle.

I think(gotta overstress cause dudes will swear I'm spouting what I think is fact) she hits a demographic of old folk who don't get their music on computers. That's what I was hinting at with prior posts about her music being "good" in the eye of the beholder. I can't listen to that mess, lol. JUST MY OPINION.
Haha, same, SuBo just got major publicity 'cos she's old and still became a star. Everyone forgot about the true winners of the show.

So much for Gucci's "HUGE" hype.
