You don't have to make it big to get paid. There are guys who can get paid and make their entire living at a local level.

    right.

those (and others) intangibles separate the PROFESSIONALS from the AMATEURS -

DO NOT waste time with AMATEUR artists - it'll just slow you down and frustrate you

    It's called ARTIST DEVELOPMENT.

Not every artist is gonna come to you as a professional. If you see something worth investing in, then take the time to groom and develop them.

That's what production companies do. That's what I'm doing.

Finding people to work with is easier said than done, especially when amateur artists are so scared of getting screwed over that they never end up working with anyone. If you want to work with the right people, you must find people who put their money where their mouth is. To do this, looks at what they have and what their currently doing before reaching out to them for collaborations. Charge reasonable prices for your work without cheating yourself and you'll be in business before you know it.

It's not rocket science; however, it does require you to work smart and hard.

Search for stuff as it relates to the business you're in. I look for current activity, events, tours, music sales, and studio activity among other things.
