ok, so I'm following P.Diddy on twitter and I'm pretty much a noob on the whole twitter game (I started late in the game..lol)

    anyways...

on one of his tweets, he poses the question

"What yall do today? Anything interesting happen?..."

and me, trying to be all witty I reply...

    "I sold 2 beats today!..."

which is true. I did make sales today.

Then I thought about it... The TAGS i'm using to watermark my beats are of Biggie's Acapellas.

I spliced, mixed n' matched Biggie's acapella from his song BIG POPPA to get it to sound like he's saying:

    "...Ken Sino Music Blasting..."

you can hear my tags here: http://www.KenSinoMusic.com

I'll start off first by saying I AM a Notorious BIG fan and I thought it was quite clever and 'cool sounding' using the edited vocals.

Then, I had second thoughts about it and deleted my reply from twitter wondering if he might take offense to it.

I duno, what do you think?

Wait... what's the problem. Is it that you don't want him to know you sold beats, or that you sliced a Biggie song to make a tag? And what does one have to do with the other?

I doubt if he would have time to listen or investigate with his schedule...on anther note that is a tight idea!...i would be more worried that diddy would jack you for your idea. lmfao!

I think that's fair use. You weren't selling the tag, the tag would be removed anyway.

id bet a million bucks diddy never heard your beat let alone the tag. And I dont think hed waist money suing you or an artist who used that tag given that the song more then likely wouldn't even generate enough revenue to cover his court cost and lawyer fees.

Yeah nothing to loose sleep over here

Both of the above are true^

Raises a good point actually. If Diddy isn't going to hear you sampling his music when its right under his nose, why should anybody worry about these 70s soul and funk artists you're sampling when chances are they will never hear it.

Clearing a sample is the preparation for the infringement of the copyright to become apparent. In most cases it never will.

I guess what I was trying to say was not from a legal perspective, but more on a moral one?

    along the lines of

"how dare you use his vocals to sell your music, you're an a$shole...take that take that take that..."

and you're right, they are just tags and is removed

thnx for the advice n' reassurance fam
