what are your thoughts on songs like this
Esta Vida Me Encanta (Video Official) - C-Kan Ft. Don Aero & Zimple *2012* - YouTube
do you think its possible to have a hit song with a really simple beat in terms of the number of instruments and elements?

Depends on the the lyrics too, but since i have no idea what they are saying. And like many people say, less is more.
"When i was a kid i was a gangster then a rapper, then i got money, i came from nothing, i expecto nothing out of this life but i love it" thats the first verse, its like the latin equivalent for trap
Lil Mama had a hit song and there is nothing but kicks and claps in it haha
No bassline...no melody.
Can't say I'm a fan of Hip-Pop as I call it, but I thought Lil Mama's "Lip Gloss" was a pretty fun track.
Not an easy feat to pull off
This land is your land and this land is my land, sure, but the world is run by those that never listen to music anyway" - Bob Dylan
Check out rack city produced by DJ Mustard. I don't even need to point out how popular that song is, and the beat's minimalism has even caused bursts of outrage amongst some forum members![]()

Less is more
In response to the Lil Mama post, I think it would be ten times easier for a female to pull that off.
The final song has to have a good "vibe"
Think Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry, Be Happy
Just because the beat / song is stripped down... doesn't make it good.
