    The infamous Facebook "Like"

I've noticed more and more companies coming out that acually sell Facebook likes. For example, one website sells 20,000 likes for $269 or 50,000 YouTube views for something like $320.

At first I thought how lame is this, but from a music promoting standpoint and considering the shift in the music industry, how influential and useful do you really think this can be?

I would dare to say, MOST people are more lilely to watch and deem a YouTube video legit if it has xx,xxx number of views or more. Same principle with one of your songs that already has 20,000 likes circulating on Facebook. It kind of gives it that "why have so many people liked this song" mentality and makes you check it out.

To me, it's not keeping it real, but it makes me wonder if people actually use these services.

    Discuss.

But doesn't it look really stupid or suspicious if a YT video has 50k views and only 2 or 3 likes, with no comments? Or your FB page has 10k likes but no one ever comments or posts anything on it? Looks pretty desperate to me....

That's what I was thinking. Apparently it's a gradual increase that you can set like 1,500 views a day that flucuate to make it seem "normal" and some of the sites say the views bring in actual viewers who may like or dislike

But I agree about the comments, how can you fake that? a bunch of bots or something?

or . . . you could always just use Facebook Ads to increase awareness by advertising your Fanpage, if you just "need" more likes lol.

the CTR (click-through rate) is not guaranteed (like the other services you described earlier) but you can set it up so that it is CPC (cost per click) and so it is not based on impressions alone. a lot of services that sell automated likes, views and followers are just bots, and spam accounts though . . . you want legitimate awareness for your brand . . . ain't no substitutes for the footwork involved.

It's already proven that someone doesn't even have to know who you are but they can see you have "10,000+ Followers (fake or real) and you produce music" and you are more than likely to get followed.

I honestly don't see anything wrong with it. . .Marketing is Marketing. Sure, I may have 10,000 likes and no comments now. . .but if I were to combine these tools with the "footwork" shawty mentioned. . . SOMEONE is going to pay attention and then the rest will follow in line, especially if the product I'm selling is actually DOPE

That's where the problem lies. . .people who sell wack shit have access to these tools.

exactly rthfgd, it's deceitful, but it's for the initial perceptions. it's like companies that have boosted up ratings and fake ass yelp or google reviews. you notice the attention and reception, you're going to at least inquire and look into it, which is a great start for any business.

That's an interesting viewpoint, I think I can agree with this. It's like creating a buzz before you even have a buzz, but make sure your skills match your "pre-buzz".
