The music doesnt match up and despite what we believe of major labels, from what ive heard he's not touching some of the cats ive heard signed and indie.
but like DeRanged said, its 1 sided advice to lure you to buy his product. I get the message though, you wanna be able to survive on your own two. you dont wanna sign to a label and then if the label goes under (which could happen especially now) that youre assed out and dont know what to do. But that doesnt take into account all the connects and relationships you built while signed
if a company that hires 200 individuals goes under, you think those 200 individuals will disappear off the planet, you can link with them still, no one can ever take your network from you. Hence why your network is your net worth. You dont think a signed producer has a better chance of getting in contact with artists.. with or without a label. Also more engineers, more studios Theres still a lot of opportunities out there.
i just feel like its very one sided to lure people into buying his product and things like that. the whole "yea i couldve signed my deal, but im here helping ya'll"
theres a saying in the music business.. "Your first deal is gonna be your worst deal" Look at Hit Boy. i remember when hit boy came up.. signed to Polow was getting a bunch of records placed on decent selling albums, then Polow situation fell through, and he was stuck.. now look Hit Boy is probably the most popular producer out now.
just cause you sign a bad deal, doesnt mean its the end of the world. You just wanna protect yourself.
im just not with the whole selling basic info concept, not Iceboy, not Postman, not none of those. You sell things that are valuable to the person who is making em, not what the customer deems valuable.
i drop the same stuff these guys sell for 60 bucks in threads on here, for free. Theres certain things of course id charge for. Man im in the process of getting a producer on here a pub deal with one of the most popular hip hop producers right now (cant say his name cause he hasnt come out officially saying hes doing the pub deal situation just yet, but soon), or at least trying to. And im gonna get my commission for sure. I can shop peoples records if they were dope, i reach out to producers from here all the time. That type of stuff you charge, because thats valuable stuff, thats stuff that i can use to benefit myself, but out of the goodness of my heart am offering others the opportunities.
but telling somebody how to sell more beats? or how to market themselves? How to get traffic to their websites? things like that? thats nothing
usually because most of the problems are easy fixes and it comes down to making better music. So how can i sit and charge somebody 60 bucks for a DVD to just tell them make better music.
