I was just listening to The best of jodeci and i realized that Devante's drum programming and timbalands are basically the same. The question i really want to ask is why isnt devante relevant in music today but timbaland is? Devante is too talented not to be making hit records today. He needs to start a new swing mob so that i can join

Timbaland actually worked under Devante early in his career so it's quite possible that those are actually Timbaland's drums you hear.

Indeed, quite possibly Timbo's programming skills, gone uncredited. Having said that, Devante is definitely a sad story of wasted opportunity & talent. I used to (still do) like his work. In fact until his affiliation with Suge Knight, he was in high demand as a producer. I guess people got scared of hanging around him. Ha, ha.

Listen to Usher's 1st CD. Devante did 2 joints & Timbaland actually gets credit for programming. That was Usher's best CD, IMHO.

Word is that Devante was a difficult guy to work with/ for (think Prince-LOL).

I do hope he has another chance at a comeback.

    Peace

I always wondered what the hell happened to Devante... Those Jodeci beats made Jodeci my all time favorite R&B group besides 112. Then he did that "No More Pain" track for Pac on All Eyes on Me... That is in my TOP 5 favorite beats EVER! And I'm not really a Pac fan at all but, I had that song on blast faithfully. I still bang it. There were NO beats like that at that time. Then... Devante vanished...

I wonder what his sound would be like if he had been consistant... he'd probably STILL be in demand... Shame...

Anybody realize the chick in the video is Hoopz from Flava of Love?!? Like the say... Drugz is a terrible thing. But Looks like Jodeci is about to make a comeback. Hell, if New Edition can still do it why can't they.

LOL. Funny line then, when RJ said it. Even funnier today.

To whomever started this thread, thanks. I'm gonna have to revisit my Jodeci collection. Miss that stuff.

    Peace

LOL, true. I heard Timbo worked under D as well. That explains it all...
