The author of arguably the greatest debut album of any solo artist in Hip Hop history, (whose powerful voice was reduced to a raspy whisper after a car wreck fractured his voice box just two months after his platinum breakthrough, 1989’s No One Can Do It Better), elaborated in an at times vague, but clearly personally pained way as to how his historic “Formula” with Dr. Dre has been poisoned by greed and ego.
To get back to your question, I don’t know why those guys [won’t stand their ground with Jimmy Iovine] – well yes I do, they’re rich! They don’t give a ****. They’re rich, and Jimmy Iovine’s rich. Iovine wears Beats [By Dre headphones] everywhere he go. He’s not wearing them Beats ‘cause it’s Dre’s company. Jimmy’s no dummy.
poor guy.
Never heard this guy before...i guess that's the thing with ghostwriting lol. You can cash in but noone will know you exist. And judging by the interview, he didn't get what he was supposed to have. Seems like he got stapped in the back real good.
good interview.

I suggest you check into his history. The D.O.C. was basicly the 6th member of N.W.A., his solo debut is a classic. With the first cheque he got from his album, he bought a car, crashed it and lost his voice. You can hear his voice on a skit on the Niggaz4life album, The Chronic etc. He's been ghostwriting/producing on alot of classics.
Also worth checking is the project Deuce from 2003, has a couple of Dre produced songs on it but with The D.O.C.'s vision and artists.
In the interview he revealed that he basicly postponed his voice surgery to work on Detox for 4 years.

Never heard of The DOC???
He had what is probably THE BEST debut album of ANY rapper...EVER.
His skills were about 10 years ahead of his time. He was just that good.
I mean, listen to Whirlwind Pyramid. The lyrics in that song are INSANE. And that was what, like 1990?
It was 1989. I wasnt there to experience it since I was only 4 at the time. But I can tell this album is legendary. Who was rhyming like that back then?

This is one of those Dre cuts from that 2003 album, love this track. Youtube quality doesnt do it justice, its from the same era as In Da Club was made I think.
Here's what his voice sounds like right now
