Sorry I disagree, it's not dieing, it's the people who you are seeing are only talking about Jayz and Kayne West. However all the people in my circle know about the Independant Self-Made rappers who have their OWN reccord label, and marketed THEMSELVES.

People just need to be made aware about the Non-Mainstream rappers. And they create every Sub genre of hiphop, you name it; the hyped stuff, the deep stuff, the lyricly complex metaphoric stuff.. etc

Check out rappers like: Hopsin, Dizzy Wright and their Independant record label Funk Volume.

Another thing, in my opinion OLD MUSIC, isnt really OLD music, its NEW to whoever hasnt heard it.

I'm 23 now, and I never listened to Rakim in my child hood, but when i lsiten to him a year ago via youtube, i thought hes DOPE. So to me its NEW

Rock needs to come back.... hip-hop is getting lame....none of these young boys now how to rap.... and most of em way too fake to believe.

All you can do is focus on the artists you like. That's the great thing about the internet. Your favorite rapper no longer needs a record label. Remember that every time you see one of these wack new artists. No need to get mad at them. It's like having a little brother. You learn to ignore them rather than take them serious.

LOL its funny to hear people refer to kanye and JayZee as old school... ive never been into either of them to be honest...

hip hop has been comercialised almost to death and certainly to the point of non recognition... it gets called hip hop just because somebody is rapping or because they are wearing baseball caps... most of this rubbish is POP not hip hop...

music is always getting better and will always improve and evolve... but you do have to search for it in some ways its harder but in other ways easier now with all this media...

also genres come and go, improve and degrade... its all circles and cycles...

one thing that doesnt help though and i see it time and time again on this site is all this "how can i make money from my beats?" or "let me tell you how to make money from your beats!"

real music is about what you can give not what you can get... if your approach is "how can i make money?" then you are making POP not hip hop.
