Well, i was in the studio yesterday and learned a lesson. Me and my nigga had this song we wrote, featuring another cat i know. **** was hot. (and not just cause it was my **** either) But anyway, we get there and this nigga studio lookin like a spaceship. Like, he produced alotta big time mu****az (which names i won't reveal). But, we start recording and, this nigga goes on doing **** his way like, over layering the hooks, and layering the verses and ****. tryna direct niggaz wit adlibs and ****, putting fx on his way and ****. And while all this is going on, i'm like tryna keep it open minded, cause you never know when you in the studio, but now that i look at it i shoulda stop this ****. Plus niggaz was in a rush paying by time and ****, but, it didn't come out like it shoulda.

I didn't wanna get too bold wit such an experienced producer but everbody can't see your vision until you show it to them. I let him know i made music when we got in there. I didn't make that track but, i guess he thought that i was just a nigga that made beats. I won't call myself a producer right now, but i'm a future producer got damn, and i know how i want my **** to sound.

So the moral of the story is, **** being humble when it comes to your ****.

He was doing what a producer does. You say you don't even feel that you are a producer. If you didn't like how he was producing, you should have stepped up to the plate and became the producer.

    producingLC,

See the problem was that there was no producer there so he just filled the void. All you had to do was "produce" the record and I'm sure he would have step aside.

Whenever you go into any commercial studio, majority of the engineers are producers also. So if they feel like no-one is takin charge of the record, they will do it themselve.

You just got to step up. Just because someone else did the beat, doesn't mean he is the producer...

i feel ya..we deal with one studio like that, the engineers own the studio and went to school for producing. One of the guys sucks so bad on doing levels, etc but his partner is to coward/nice/scary (same difference to me) to let his partner know, which is why they dont really record when im around b/c i'll tell his @ss.. but our favorite studio the engineer lets us do our thing, sometimes he make suggestion or ask could he say something and mostly we listen to his input and use it..
