Racism or Facts

strangely, though, Beethoven's outrage at being considered to be inferior was more related to his origins as an abandoned son taken in under protest by his older brother
- he was made to feel his place as a poor relation and not allowed to forget it whilst living under his brothers roof

the rest is pure conjecture based on linking the name of the house to this inferiority outrage - there are no facts to support the issues that are speculated upon in that outrageous racist piece of fiction, only conjecture and supposes

black people brought string instruments into europe. aswell as inventing classical music

it must be Black History month because this is when the more outrageous claims for "black" genius are rolled out - this is an observation of what has been promulgated each year for the past 25 years

Haven't read the thread, but rather than finding this racist, I find it rather observant. Most black musicians don't come from environments involving piano lessons before fencing. Lol. That's a joke, I know most of you white guys don't come from that either.

Some of you do though, NONE OF US!!!!

I'll say this, f**k race, by human nature, when you're starving, you'll find a way to eat. People with less who have a hunger to create music will still always find a way. It reflects in artists who emerge from urban communities.

This discussion makes me think of these nikkas. They from africa, so you know they real.

And don't take me serious, guys. I just dream of a day we can all take racism less serious without dire consequences. I like anyone who's cool and wanna punch any douchebag in the face regardless of race or whatever other issues they may have.

Anyone else read this?

Life is founded upon CARBON, the Black element present in all living matter.

I got to this and lost it.

Reminds me of Time Cube

Which is amazing and wonderful and proof of umm.. ... ... something.

I am a big fan of Die Antwoord, Max Normal, Max Normal .TV and The Original Evergreens. Wadi has some seriously underrated talent.

racism. perhaps a black/african-american upringing would make one more disposed to make certain types of music. but two kids with exactly the same life, one black, one white, would grow up the same, other than the adversity the black one would face due to the still very much racist nature of america, particularly in certain parts of the country.

Out of pure curiosity;
how many have realized that this thread is rascist AF?

Depending on how long u are following the hip hop music culture, u can call urself a first hand trend watcher of the culture, especially if u r apart of it. If u lived in a time where a particular subculture was started and developed and u monitor how things started out and u survived long enough to see the transition made, u can hav an educated opinion about it.
Knowing ur history is an important thing.

With that being said, som people lived the history as apart of a sub culture and som came and joined after, not knowing the details or arent interested in how it started and developed.

The statements made in the Original thread are common knowledge. Doesnt need a theory or a formula, but it's just sensitive topic for some people to accept. Mainly individuals that are non blacks. (I myself am mixed)

It takes awhile before people accept truths that make them feel uncomfortable, but knowledge is key.

This is just my opinion as a participator of hip hop culture.

At first I was like ''naaaah, it ain't racist'' but then I read the article you posted about blacks being superior due to more malanin LMAO

Even if Mozart was black his achievements wouldn't be your achievements because no one has any right to make racial claims for the achievements of others.....and such a notion would quite simply be racist.

Now if someone was to make an erroneous ethnocentric statement such as "The Count of Monte Cristo was written by a white man" then obviously the correct thing to do is point out the erroneous nature of such a statement....but more importantly you should avoid making the same errors yourself.

I certainly have tremendous difficulty when trying to find facts about African history because too much of African history is Euro-centric or the worst kind of made up Afrocentric fantasy bullshit.

You may have a point, Eminem said: I am the worst thing since Elvis
Presley
To do black music so selfishly
And used it to get myself
wealthy
(Hey!!) Of course he was just kidding, or was he [ominous chord].

History shows black people have an affinity for music. We have heavy influence in ALL popular music in America [yes, even country]. Of course, there is going to be excepts. However, America has made a habit of being entertained by black people while kicking down at the same.

This is my response to Bwade’s “Racism or Facts” thread according to a post-by-post break down, when a different writer is quoted it will be shown
First and foremost, I believe Bwade to be a Trolling White Frat Boy from Ol’ Miss or some other backwards-ass institution.
If Bwade is a real person of color just trying to get some dialogue than read on, if you wish.

“would it be so far fetch (sic) to say that black people naturally possess a ability to make music ?”
Your statement is no more far-fetched than to say that nearly all humans naturally possess an ability to make music.
“not trying to sound racist or create an argument on ignorant things but factual evidence shows that black people usually do not go to music school to learn to play an instrument or create music of any kind.”
What does this sentence mean? People of color exist in all socio-economic backgrounds; some have attended music school and some have not attended music school. The union of these two sets shows that the vast majority of folks-- whether or not they have attended music school—do not become famous.
“now in this age of ’everyone is equal’ sometimes we forget FACTS.”
Suppositions based in ignorance, possibly in some attempt to “keep it real,” are not facts.
“now when we look at major trends in popular music they are created from black people could this be the reason companies offer shoe deals and numerous other endorsements to market products?”
We now need to discuss a general understanding of “The Game.” The Game is different than music. So forget music for a moment. What is The Game? The Game is the pyramid of media and product distribution and product placement and product advertising and cross-overs. The Game is ruled by money. So yes, if an individual is popular, no matter what their color or sex or socio-economic demographic appeal for marketing, then he or she has what advertisers want and need to sell their commercial product, and thus, deals are made to use that person’s likeness and name to increase the wealth for the companies that the advertiser represents- not the artist or athlete in question.
As an example, recently Suge Knight was on Arsenio. Suge spoke directly to this problem of The Game within the hip-hop industry. He stated that when he worked with Dr. Dre and Snoop, they signed with Impulse and made a large amount of cash, and Snoop’s album went triple platinum off a spin-off of Dre’s album. But the reason they made lots of cash is because they were not suckers. Suge then stated an example of two well-known modern recent celebrities who signed with Impulse and got nothing. These two extremely famous people are now playing concert and recording basically for free. Why? Because they did not know how the point system works within legal music contracts. Their producers get paid before the artist, these artists no longer own the rights to their own songs. Suge stated it was like slavery, Arsenio said, “Twelve years a slave.”
Ice Cube was asked, “What was the one thing to know about making music” on MTV maybe 15 years ago. Cube said, “It’s all about the points.”
You either know The Game, or you get gamed.
White, prissy Olympians sell their endorsements because they have “cred” with 12-year-old girls named Debbie. Gangster rappers, DJ’s, and MC’s sell their endorsements because they have street cred.
Notice that none of these above points has the slightest thing to do with the creation of music; it only has to do with mass appeal and popularity. By and large, first and foremost, an individual becomes competent in their craft and successful: he or she creates a product somebody wants to buy. A person could be a stripper or a porn star; people enjoy that specific porn; and someone offers that porn star an endorsement deal. This is how Jenna Jameson became a multi-millionaire. She was a smart stripper who knew the Game, she was not gamed.
So in short, if you have something someone wants to market, no matter what color you are, you may make a lot of money as long as you know The Game.
“could their be something appealing about the African race that they can market a product better than any other musician. (I.E rick ross reebok) (Dr Dre Beats).”
Yes, people of color/ “Black Folks” are appealing. You are absolutely correct. But is not Rock Ross or Dre that does the marketing, they simply let advertisers use their image to sell a product. The actual marketing is done by a large task force of people who are never seen, doing demographic studies to determine what todays’ youth will buy. They deliberately market to different demographics. Here is an example:
Back in the late eighties, black folks wanted a change in MTV which was owned by CBS, and demographic studies showed that black folks between 12-35 purchased almost 40% of all music sold in the United States. Now back in those ancient days, people like Spike Lee and KRS1 from Boogie Down Productions and Grandmaster Flash were spreading knowledge about Shell Oil and apartheid, about the power of the consumer’s dollar. These demographics showed that commercial industry would change in order to keep that almighty dollar coming through the door. The consumers warned the folks at MTV, Shell Oil, and other companies that they would organize and no longer purchase their products if they were underrepresented or if the company was involved in unethical regimes. The power of the consumer dollar made a social change—not because it was the right or ethical thing to do—but because of filthy lucre. They’re a bunch of greedy bastards, but if you know this ahead of time, you don’t get gamed.
Rick Ross and Dr. Dre are cool, not because they are black. Rick Ross and Dr. Dre are cool, because they are already cool. They just happen to be black.
I don’t know if you are black; I think you are a Trolling White Frat Boy from Ol’ Miss or some other backwards-ass institution. Yet either way, you may still like Dr. Dre because he is cool.
“once again no intention to start race tension just trying to figure out the standard of society they seem to take alot from the black culture. in more recent examples like twerking. “
I will now talk about music. You said, “now when we look at major trends in popular music they are created from black people.”
In short, you are correct, but for the wrong reasons. It seems that you have no concept of history. To quote Minister Louis Farrakhan Muhammad, Sr., National Representative of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad and The Nation of Islam, “The Black Man is the Original Man.” All music comes out of Africa, and it keeps evolving all the time. I think your argument on “major trends in popular music,” wasn’t referencing The Blues, Bee-Bop, or the Birth of the Cool. I think you were talking different forms of hip-hop, but either way you are correct.
Having read this thread, the understanding of music is sorely lacking from almost all posters. As performance artists/musicians, there are many different skills to master. Sight-reading is a single skill. Being able to sight-read does not mean you automatically know how to compose or improvise. Sight-reading and reading music only allows one to compete in a classical arena or an arena where the perpetuation of written works is important.
Therefore, sight-reading music is over- rated and often used as a measuring stick in order to keep music teachers, especially piano teachers in business.
Sight-reading is not the same as understanding music, or music theory- although sight reading can lead to music theory just as theory can lead backwards to reading.
People on the bandstand who have to play with a lot different artists over a lot of different tunes (especially jazz musicians) use a musical theoretical short-hand which describes chord changes of the tune in Roman Numerals based off the chord functions in a tune- no matter what the key is: the Dominant chord is always the “V”, the Mediant is the “III,” etc. This allows players to improvise and transpose on the fly, and to communicate quickly on the bandstand in front of an audience. Generally, these folks can also play by ear, and what this means in this specific context is that they chord-scal forms well enough FROM PRACTICING that they can hear the melody in their head and play it through their hands in real time—not from a piece of written music. They each make their own musical choices.
Therefore, at several places in this post, it looks like it is assumed that merely mastering sight-reading allows one full competency as a musician. It only makes one a good instrumentalist of other people’s works. Composition and improvisation are totally different skills.
This is why your church organist is not famous. She can read, but not jam. She got gamed by the Music Instruction Game. She drank the cool-aid.
“numerous black musicians who only play by ear. not saying there arent many whites who cant or anyother race. but the fact that many black musicians can make a song about anything and it be marketable. like r kelly feeling on your booty”
Whether or not R. Kelly can play by ear, his people know how much work and effort he puts into his projects. R. Kelly is successful because he works harder at being sexy and dirty and musical. But R. Kelly could be doing exactly what he is doing right now and be poor. THE ONLY REASON HE MAKES MONEY AND IS MARKETABLE IS BECAUSE THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO BUY HIS RECORDS.
It is not because R. Kelly is black. It is because he is R. Kelly; just like Dr. Dre is cool because he is cool. He just also happens to be black.
“does talking about the truth irritate you?”
This is why I think you are a White Troll.
Yet it leads me to a new point: If all black folks are, like you say, somehow superiorly gifted with genetic musical and athletic potential beyond all other genotypes, then we have to go to the Great One.
Muhammad Ali vs. Sonny Liston.
Two Black Guys, and Sonny was the bigger, the one with darker skin pigmentation, and the veteran fighter. Yet he lost to Ali. According to your race theory, Liston who was bigger and blacker should have been the better fighter. Yet he was not.
Bruce Lee.
There will never be anyone like Bruce Lee ever again. He was unique. It did not matter what color he was. “Be like water.”
And now from Kevlar070:
“There is alot of truth in what u say but ofcourse not allot of people are willing to admit to that caus hip hop is more pop genre, where everyone can now be apart of it and claim rights to it dat dey dont hav. And u dont really see it in other genres except for rock n roll where african americans also played a crucial roll in developing. but the culture is being exploited and used as a marketing gimmick to attract buyers of that sub culture which must be an important sub culture if u gonna put millions of dollars behind a campaign geared at dat subculture.”
My answer to you, and to Bwade, is: If you don’t know who John Coltrane, Thelonious Sphere Monk, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Grandmaster Flash, Charlie Pride, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry, King Sunny Ade, Babatunde Olatunji, Elvin Jones, Boogie Down Productions, Sly and the Family Stone, Sam and Dave, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, The Jacksons, Public Enemy, A Tribe Called Quest, Charles Mingus, Charlie Patton, Elmore James, Bo Diddley, Fela Kuti, Alton Ellis, Albert King, Aretha Franklin, Billy Cobham, Bola Sete, Burning Spear, Mongo Santamaría, Curtis Mayfield, and the Digable Planets are, and why these individuals and groups are important culturally as well as musically—not because they have a shoe endorsement—then you really should not be posting your jive turkey opinion on these message boards until you become better educated.
Straight up.
“Sucker MC’s drop….”
Now to keep it real, for my Street Flava credentials, I will give you an example of a tremendous artist who got not endorsement or contracts, he came up from the streets, and he had a major musical influence as a musical artist, not as some jive ass famous person created out of demographic information sell a product.
His name is DJ Screw. He left 180 albums of his mixes and worked with the greats. He died around 2000. Yet his style can be seen as recently as that crappy Katy Perry w/ Juicy J “Dark Horse” video. Quite frankly, I don’t have a clue who Juicy J is, but I know DJ Screw. I knew Miles Davis and I know Grandmaster Flash.
I can have an opinion because I have earned one.
To Bwade:
“i seems i cant uplift my people with facts.”
You certainly can’t uplift anybody with bad writing, mere attitude that makes you look like a racist White Frat Boy out trolling, and a basic lack of skills that most probably carries over into your musical attempts.
By the way, the English word “song” comes from Korea. Euclid was an African from Heliopolis. But you don’t know these things, so how can you uplift anybody from a state of ignorance. Get an education. Stop being an embarrassment.
To Nightshade:
**** yeah I’m with Zef.
On ANY DAY I would rather hang with Miles Davis and Earl Scruggs than any of the folks on this thread excluding Die Antwoord.
Straight up.
The Drunken Afficianado
