I always loved listening to hip hop, and dreamed about producing. One day, I said **** it, and bought a midi controller. With my Akai MPK49 I started messing with some stuff but shit was just tough for me. Software's are hard to use... musical terms I've never heard of... lack of creativity... It just wasn't what I was expecting and now I barely touch it. It hurts every time I look at it because I feel like I let my dream go. I'm gonna try to do my best to spend as much time on it though, and I guess the most important thing to do is to get myself to enjoy doing it. I know you guys put a lot of hard work and time into this. Keep it up. I have lots of respect for you guys!

If you have a mac, start learning Garageband...if you have a PC then try Fruity Loops...those two are real good entry-level programs that'll get your feet wet right away. We all have to start somewhere somehow...

I never put a minute of hard work into music.

Every second I spent making music has been pure enjoyment. But then again I think music will always be a hobby for me (I'm planning on being an electrical engineer) so it could be different for everybody. It's probably why I'm still shit at making beats after 3 years hah.

Its like anything else, you get good at what you practice. It does take time, lots of it, you have to love her or she won't put out.

Ohhhh. It's always painful to me when I see FL getting described as a beginners program. With FL you can get the same results as you get them with Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic, etc. You just have to know the techniques. But FL is at least as professional as the other DAWs.

You bought the controller, that shows us that you want to learn!! Knowing piano, music theory, and just having an open mind will allow you to do so much with music.

Sometimes I feel like you man, and sometimes people tell me "You weren't born to this..." But wtf they were born for what? I was born to do what I like, and to Dream. In 4 months of composing I don't see great advance yet, but, people think cause I dedicate few time to piano lessons (youtube actually) I am bad at this, but I dedicate many of my time, not hoping to be as great as Mr.West, but hoping that one day someone can share there thoughts with me by clicking "play".

Go to youtube, learn a couple of piano songs. That should be enough. Start exploring the software and hardware. Sometimes I waste some 30 hours on composing and nothing good comes out so...
