I thought about it... But when talking to the recruiter he told me because of my criminal record I wouldn't get paid as much as everyone else. I went to another one, he told me I would be paid the same as everyone else, but couldn't try from a list of jobs. Went back to the first, he said I could try for any job I wanted.
Went to a third and he said something completely different from the previous two.
I was also hearing a lot of stuff from the recruiters that i already KNEW was a lie. I've also read a few of my friends contracts after they joined, and its a trap. Three have been stop lossed in Afganistan, one in Iraq. Supposed to come home and they said no... One recruiter even told me they don't do that anymore, lol.

So I figured I wasn't going to take a chance with them if they couldn't even get their lies together while trying to trick me to join.

Remember the recruiters get paid for the more people they recruit. They WILL lie their asses off to you. I have a friend just signed his contract a week ago for the Army, and is already finding out all the lies they told him to get him to join. Hasn't even got sent to boot camp yet...

If your thinking about joining, think hard, do your research, and don't take the recruiters word for anything you haven't researched yourself.
Don't get me wrong, I have friends in it having fun, and actually getting training for what they want to do in the civilian life too. But I figured because of all the lies and everything I was told I wasn't going to risk my life by getting caught in a technicality on my contract.

I was stoplossed, in medical hold.
#music101 Talent is an other word for potential. Potential is a nice way of saying something isn't working. Results matter!

The recruiters lie because they have a quota to fill in certain job areas every month. If they don't reach the quota (normally like 2 people per month) they start to look bad to the higher ups. So if they tell you that you won't qualify for certain jobs... they could be lying and trying to steer you into a field they need to reach their quota in.

I was in the Army for 8 years... I wouldn't recommend doing it. It's nothing like they make it out to be.

Yep. One of the recruiters even wanted me to lie about my record. But I got to the part where it wanted me to sign "I am not lying about the statements, and the recruiter did not influence me to lie in any way" part, which me signing puts him in the clear, and gets me some new charges.

Rule #1: Read what your signing very carefully... Not only with the military, but for everything. People get set up all the time by signing stuff they don't understand. If you don't know what your signing, ask what it means, write it down, and look it up yourself also.

The navy came after me in high school. They wanted be to be a nuclear technician for submarines. I studied aviation mechanics and avionics in high school, and I actually was awarded by the FAA.

But I don't like water, and the thought of being under it for months at a time was unpleasant. And I wanted to blow shyt up. So I went Army.

But the sad truth is the government and the military do not care about their troops and veterans. You as a soldier is just another tool, and once your are broke you are discarded.

If you are really serious about joining the service. take a trip down to your local homeless shelter and save yourself 5 years.
Nah not cryptoanylisis ,but my score was a 64 on the asvab ,I got that without study whatsoever ,but i think the name was Cryptologic Technician(there are like 6 versions of this Job) ,I originally wanted the "IS"(Intelligence Specialist) Job and i qualified for it but they was trying to lie to me and say that they don't do those jobs in the navy anymore........i asked my friend who was already in the navy and he told me they were lying.....smh

I thought about it. Only as a last resort though. If nothing else works out...which it will...but if it doesn't, then I would join the military. A last resort kind of thing.
