its quite easy to be ok on guitar,like chords and a few melody lines.,it all depends on how far you want to take it.if you want to be properly good it would takes loads of effort.,just like everything really.,
maybe start out with learning stuff by bands like nirvana,bush etc.where there are only really power chords and its easy,then bands like muse and radiohead for harder things.then bands like pantera and dream theatre (wank music but really really technically good) and classical music and things,but it all depends on what kinda music you like.,actually the best thing to do at the beggining is probably to just learn chords.
