New To Rock from Hip Hop

Okay here's the deal for most of my life I listened to hip hop, R&B, Soul, and J Pop. Recently because of the purchase of a guitar I've been slowly gaining an interest in rock music. So could you give me some suggestions of some good bands to listen to? So far I'm interested in bands like Asian Kung Fu Generation. So if you know of any bands that makes music like that that'll be helpful.

As a new player my self(less than 2 years), i would suggest the Classics. Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton (Cream), Lynyrd Skynard, Ozzy (solo), Dio, Metallica,

These bands are probably nothing like what your looking for but as a new Player you should know the Classics.

The guy above has it pretty right. Although, I must emphasize LED ZEPPELIN. It is a must for a new guitar player and rock listener. Also the Beatles and some Queens of the Stone Age.
