Since we are in the Electronic Music section I figured this would be a good thread. For those that don't know me, let me take a quick second to introduce myself. My name is Vince Gebelle (aka VinteK) and I produce Electronic Music, mostly Progressive House and Trance. I am starting to dabble around with Techno, but mostly those two genres. Anyway this thread is for anyone that has any good tips and trick that they would like to share about making some cool effects, such as Risers and Swooshes. I personally use Ableton Live, but if you use other platforms, that's fine too.

White noise on a vst with reverb + ping pong delay...then automate your volume to fade it in or out

+ 1 on white noise... use any white noise generated from a synth (i use operator white noise waveform for this) low cut eq, some reverb, delay, sidechain compression and automate a low pass filter to get the woosh fx.

risers... any hi pitch type sound/sample will work as long as its the root note of your tune. Loop a small portion of the sound, sidechain, reverb, flanger etc... and use pitch shifting to rise from one octave to the other.

for risers, the majority of the time i have the pitchbend range up 2 octaves and automate with reverb and a phaser

I record myself going "kwoooooooooooooooshhhhhhhhhhhewwwwwwwwwwwchoooooooooo" and then usually sidechain it.

    Jk

white noise + filter is something I use on pretty much every track. Also, I have a secret. I use a stupid otherwise useless FX plugin that beeps and stuff. I filter it and automate it and it gives some pretty unique sweepy sounds that you can't get with just white noise. It's on the last part of my sig. Also, I use samples once in a while.

Use non looped white noise apply low pass filter and manipulate cutoff frequency. Play with resonance to taste.
