Not sure about clean sound, but i use FL studio, have fruity limiter turned off, oh yea I sometimes add Sound Goodizer plugin into main effects channel. It raises certain frequencies to give a crisp sound. If you dont use FL, you can still download Sound Goodizer for Winamp and try it out with your fav songs, it definately adds clarity to some tracks.
