Ok, so when you are staring at your interface, do you already have a song in mind or do you go with the flow? Lol. I'm asking becuz usually I'll start with some drums and once the drums are in there i just kind of scroll through sounds till I hear one i like, as opposed to already having an idea of what kind of sound i was going to put there. I assume this is due to my lack of experience with the different sounds and so on. Just wanted to know if anyone else thought like me or if i should "get my shit together" Lol.

Oh ok. I mean, I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to think. Lol. I just wanted to know if its more of a normal thing to be unsure, or w/e. I don't really know anyone else who is into music like I am, and then I found this website, so now all of my silly questions can be answered xD haha.

Like with a melody already in mind prior to opening your interface? Or you input something random you until you like it and then work from there Zepa?

Melody or rhythm section. no real set rule here. I can say that if you are doing something melodic driven start with melody first. If it is beat driven start with beat first.

i usually load up a lead or pad synth then play some basic chord progressions until i find one i like. then record and work around that.

I have complete picture in my mind regarding the track. Achieving the exact picture is anyhow difficult.

I always start with the percussive elements to lay down the basic groove
Then I create the main melody that will be the focal point of the mix
from there I work to fill in the missing pieces
There is no 'defined' way to create a mix.. Just keep experimenting and figuring out your own method
