Yeah, the cats spearheading that experimental beat movement in the 90s were a large part of my reason to want to make music.

Amon Tobin has inspired me a lot. The DJ Food series, DJ's Krush, Shadow and Spooky too. Together with early drum n bass/jungle like ltj bukem, 4hero, dillinja. And obviously the whole warp armchair techno thing. Armchair techno is probably still the best description of my music too.

When dubstep started coming up there was a lot to like for me, and I hoped it would push this kind of music mainstream...but then it went all wobble porn. Oh well, thats the way of things. At least it added a few new producers to my list, like burial, mala, shackleton, appleblim, scuba and inspired my own sound because I was playing with downtempo bass heavy joints around that time too.
 
Not trying to do anything sleezy, but ya boy Araphel makes dark electronic xD haha. Nah but try Burial + Four tet they make a sick duo.
