Thanks for the replies guys! I think I'm going to look into getting my music on indie videogames or indie films.

I read something once that stated that if an idea pops in your head, it's for a reason. Your job is to make it a reality and then find your market, no matter where it's at.

If it's good enough, people will buy it. People might say that music sucks today, but that's totally incorrect. We're living in a time where a person can make a hit no matter the genre. I say go for it, I personally LOVE trip-hop and was listening to some earlier today.

Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

    I don't know a thing about Trip-Hop so can't say if there's a market for it.

But if you like Trip-Hop then go nuts and make it to your hearts content, they'll always be those folks out there who enjoy the music to and wanna hear some new stuff.

Things fall in and out of style all the time, so you never know Trip-Hop might come back

Even though its not super mainstream, trip hop, like any other genre is one that can be blended into other music platforms. I think if you have a unique sound that is able to cross genres, there's a market for that.
