I had no clue what the **** you guys were talkin about earlier. Though thanks to my curiosity, I did minor research. Reggateon is really cool. I like it a lot. I listen to Nina Sky, and I saw them Live at Cyberfest. They are great. It's a very dance, club style of music.
And about that one beat, I don't see a problem with it. The snare and kick are the same, but the hats and other elements change, so who cares, it sounds good. Trance music use pretty much the same beat, yet look how ****ing popular that genre is. It has countless sub genres. If trance can do it, so can reggeaton.

thank you for using sense raven... some people don't
calling bullsh!t on the latest and crassest attempt to cash in on dancehalls popularity by renaming street soca "reggaeton" is hardly senseless.Originally posted by belizeņo

if you like the music, thats cool, i respect that, but:
- it has nothing to do with reggae; the name reggaeton is a marketing ploy that mysteriously appeared in the common vernacular shortly after some label exec hired lil john to provide crossover appeal to pitbull's totally garbage ass cullo track.
- it shouldnt be getting discussed on a reggae/dancehall forum, especially one with as much sincere discourse about reggae's politics and culture as this one. (if its "blowing up" so hard, why cant its fans find a more appropriate forum to discuss it on?)
seriously, nuff respect to reggaeton fans, im not trying to talk anyone out of their love for the music, *just take your fu*king conversations to a forum about reggaeton instead of mis-posting here; this is a REGGAE/DANCEHALL FORUM.
jesus.
Yow ichi,

Wa gwaan king!
Im wrapping up my move from NYC to San Francisco, so I been real busy for the last month dealing with all that. Hopefully Ill have my studio up and running by the end of the week tho.
Dancehall sincerely runs things out here, lotta solid DJ's, lotta solid soundsystems, so Im looking forward to forwarding the sound here in any way I can.
Plus there are a few local record presses, so I hope to get some vinyl up inna de place shortly...
Btw, what are the hitting riddims in JA at the moment?
I'm not feeling too many of the dancehall beats right now. One drop still running the place. The boom tune for me now is "Welcome to Jamrock" by Jr. Gong. That's a hard track. I'm working on two riddims at the moment. Maybe I'll send you the finished product to add to your catalog to help you mash up the scene in San Fran.
My youth, a we a gwan wid you? you done know seh you have to research yu history fu know:Originally posted by ichi

1. Pitbull's culo track is bull****, but it is dancehall, and reggaeton hasn't got sh!t to do with that. reggaeton began when panamanian DJs started translating dancehall songs into spanish, and then Puerto Ricans heard them, but stuck to the dembo beat rather than to all dancehall
2.it SHOULD be discussed is the reggae/dancehall forum becuase it is a sub-genre of such, even if you don't want to accept it
Please, don't place ignorant comments if you do not know the history of things, and if you want another separate forum for reggaeton, you are NOT using sense, you are bieng ignorant of fact.
Peace out mi bredda

>> dancehall? maybe its on a dancehall riddim so i guess.panaminan reggae was not and was not called reggaeton it was simply spanish reggae/spanish danceahall why would westindian-panamanians change it to reggaeton when they were the ones to create it learn the history of panama son westindians started reggae in spanish!\
in the late 90's or whatever puerto ricans started using reggae beats it was not always accepted in puerto rico by the elders why? cause it was not puerto rican music. although many panamians have turned to reggaeton why i don't have a clue but they know their roots read an email a panamian sent me see this is the problem many latinos think that panamians called spanish reggae reggaeton which is false thats a puerto rican term and once again reggaeton did not start in panama it started in puerto rico nuff said!
i asked her were panamians reggaeton now or are they still spanish dancehall/reggae this is her response:
Well I must say that Panama do uses dancehall rhythims. It is a shame though that some Panamanians have turned to Reggaeton and have copied their sound. It makes me upset, that is why I call Latin Fresh a backstabber to his people. Latin Fresh is mad good in lyrics but the fact taht he is part of Reggaeton now makes me mad and ashamed, he brought his whole level down. Principal has kept a lot of dancehall in his music, that is why he is my favorite. But he has remade some reggaeton songs and made the beat a lil better or the singing better. Most of those songs are by Don Omar. And reggaeton is the same **** and beats all over again, their lyrics are wack and their style of singing sounds like it is from the 80'swhen hip hop was just taking its roots. And let'snot talk about Tego, I cannot stand him or his voice. I don't know why Fat Joe brought him out to the states and is making this ugly guy more famous.
Aisha, HarlemLIVE
well, nobody is arguing on that, panama is the law! and latin frsh is doing reggaeton? f!ck thats messed up!
Well principal is da man, and will be as long he does bultron
