So my team and I (Northern Lights) have been recently classified under this new genre called Cloud Rap, with artist like main attrackionz, danny brown, asap rocky, left leberra, lil b, western tink, beautiful lou and a few others. I was wondering if any1 else heard of this new genre and what is the definition of "CLOUD RAP" ---- granted: i am in the clouds when making my FREAKY music but does cloud mean anything besides that?

I always though Lil B was making "Based Music" and the rest of those guys were just copying him, but here's a couple links about so called "cloud rap":

Man, I thought this was something they only did in Rock music. A few years ago, I heard some bands grouped in a genre labeled "Forest Rock". My old band was once labeled "Spark Rock Music" by a local club. Ppl were like "WTF?" I get that certain artists and songs might give you a feeling of being somewhere, or feeling some way, but do we need whole genres for it? I think it's just a method of trying to get the artist to stand out, which I guess is actually OK. But not if it's cheesy-sounding.

Cloud Rap started in late 09-early 2010. Not necessarily new. (Just pointing it out)
