If you could choose one producer to be your mentor, who would it be and why? I'd have to say 9th Wonder, his ability to chop up samples, and rearrange them is sick...With that skill added to my arsenal, I'd be deadly! Well, just thought this would be a very interesting thread...
 
Ill pick Scott Storch cause its like getting two for one. He knows everything that Dre has shown him plus on his own he has skills!

Its either Yoko Kanno or T-Kimura....or Yuki Kajiura :(

I've heard True Greatness from all 3 of them.

although the man is a business genius, i'd have to pick dre or rick rubin, cause they've been doing it the longest and their styles are the most universal.

:confused: Those names scare the hell out of me, and I don't know who they are!:( J/K who are they? Sounds like one of those names you'll see on a Tekken game or something...And to J-Traxx, I don't really like 9th Wonder's style of production, but he has skills...If it wouldn't be 9th, I'd go with Marley Marl or the RZA...

lol. Yoko Kanno is a Japanese composer who has done music for various games, Anime, movies and she has even produced for some j-pop artists. Yuki Kajiura is another composer who has done music for Anime and games. She also produces for See-Saw, a group composed of her and vocalist Chiaki Ishikawa . T-kimura is the producer for a Japanese Industrial (I guess) group called MOVE. They mainly make Electronic music and Rock usually fused with Rap. I think his composing skills are awesome.

Oh...I knew it had something to do with video games...:) How did you stumble upon this music? You live in Atlanta, don't you? I never heard of these composers before, but if you think their composing skills are "awesome" I know it has to be hot!
 
I first heard their work in different Anime series, I liked it alot, did a search on the internet, then found myself in a whole new world of music.:)
 
If I could choose a producer to mentor me, I would choose....ME!
