How did you get noticed?
RJD2,
First off I want to say your music is excellent and thank you for taking your time to read and answer these threads.
I just wanted to ask you how you came about becoming an established producer? Many of us here are aspiring to be industry producers and to make a living doing what most of us consider our passion, which is making music. I realize that times have changed in a big way from even a few years ago, but I think most would agree that networking is the hardest part of trying to make this all a career-- maybe excluding industry politics :banghead:. Talent is everywhere and differentiating yourself from the crowd is mandatory, as you probably know. Any tips on this situation?
By the way, usually I do remixes and such normally to get heard. Locally I am very popular and (not to stroke my ego) I am considered the best of my style in my area. I am just trying to get a shot in hip-hop as a producer, which is very hard in a place that is not dense with hip-hop culture.
A quick unrelated note also: Are you a fan of Nujabes, the trip-hop producer? I always wonder what the major producers of the underground listen to.
Thanks again for your time!
